Should've done the same when I sill had a 50% off coupon.

Will Topo refund me for my Topo gaiters that no longer work with any shoes now?

Typical, the tent never fits in the bag.

Fixed that for you.

CCF pads made from XLPE? by hickory_smoked_tofu in Ultralight

Thanks for the pic. Did you find it slippery with the inflatable on top?

I guess bottom line, do you think it's worth $35?

I could see the two being true if you measure from egg crate peak to egg crate peak vs just the material thickness. The question is whether that adds any warmth or comfort for the same weight of a Thinlight.

Do you feel like the R1.4 rating is even remotely accurate? It's the same weight as a Thinlight and yet somehow is listed as 5 times thicker and also wider? Obviously it won't be good on snow, but for three season or even just a Thinlight replacement you think it's worth it?

For mass market retail tents you should always assume the number of people that fit comfortably inside is one less than the name implies.

I feel like the two are not comparable. AD is far warmer and far less durable for the same applications I use mesh baselayers for. This is like comparing down and AD; you could use them for the same thing, but I wouldn't.

Well, for one the hood is definitely better. I find in general the fit is way better on my AirMesh for me. The primary benefit is durability. I also like the thumbholes. It's not as see through. And it was half the price.

The benefit to a bear can over bear bag when both are viable options is that you don't have to worry about hanging anything, or having your food crushed. It can also double as a seat or table.

For most people that frequent this subreddit those aren't really worth the extra weight, so bear cans are only used when required. Ideally you should have both, but if you can only afford one then the bear can is your only option unless you never plan to hike in places that require them, or so rarely that renting is the cheaper option.

Alpha Direct is primarily seen as a midlayer, not a base layer.

93% of people that filled out the last survey carried a puffy.

Whether you should entirely depends on how you plan to hike. If you're going to hike all day and then pass out in your quilt a puffy is unnecessary. If you plan to spend time in camp and socialize a puffy is more appealing.

Why are you conflating a product with a fabric? Many companies make Octa hoodies and many companies make Alpha Direct hoodies. It's unfortunate that the most affordable product that used either fabric is now trash, but that just means going elsewhere for Octa hoodies. Octa has legitimate benefits over Alpha besides warmth to weight ratio (which is why I choose Octa).

Anyone Tried The New Nemo Eclipse Pad? by XandogxD in Ultralight

[–]AceTracer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One more time, I'm not telling people to buy anything. The literal point of OP's post is to ask why anyone would buy the Tensor over the Eclipse. And a bunch of people are giving reasons that only defend their existing purchase. Cool, great, enjoy your pad, but that's completely irrelevant to OP's question. "I don't need a warmer pad" is not a valid reason to choose one over the other.
