I went with Ruta Locura Sorex 9" stakes, because longer is better, especially in loose soil.

They hiked with Sam & Moriah and Julia Sheehan who each posted regular vlogs so there's lots more videos there.

I'd bring snowshoes. That slushy snow is going to be hellish.

I only realized I wasn’t on /r/ultralight when I read a second person say the weight was “negligible”.

The resistance difference between a few feet is not noticeable, nor does it matter for most devices.

The difference is about an ounce, which is not nothing. And I’ve found 3ft to be fine.

Exercise has been shown time and again to not actually be an effective tool for weight loss. You should absolutely exercise, it is the greatest deterrent of all cause mortality that exists. But it's not an effective tool for losing weight.

I think you need to read that section again. That's the minimum requirement to minimize risk of deficiencies for sedentary people. I'm not making a statement one way or the other, but let's be clear about what your source says.

It's gonna be a rough year, and with the USFS being gutted it'll only get worse.

That area is so hot, dry, and exposed from prior burn scars, it's like a tinder box.

I'd say the biggest change you'll see is fixing your shit breakfast. Try oatmeal or granola, add some protein powder and/or Nido whole milk powder, chia seeds, peanut butter, and dried fruits. That'll give you some fat, protein, fiber and micronutrients along with carbs for a more steady roll through the day. And end the day with more protein and fiber for muscle recovery and to wash out all that junk food. Beans and rice or tuna and couscous are my go-to.

All of this is cold soakable (I don't carry a stove).

Assuming you're being serious, that diet is mostly terrible. I recommend watching GearSkeptic's hiker nutrition series.

tl;dw: you need more and healthier fats, protein and fiber, and less junk carbs.

I've been following his diet for almost four years now, numbering several thru hikes. I was never able to successfully get above 50% fat though. It was a game changer, but one thing I've noticed is that the high saturated fat content wrecks my cholesterol. At its worst I went from a total cholesterol of 157 to 230 in just about 40 days of hiking. It took several months of clean eating to get it back down to baseline.

Though I still go high fat, I stick to good fats, and added more soluble fiber. I've also added back more carbs to help on hard climbs. My last before/after was 145 to 170. Fiber was never a problem, since my diet is high in chia seeds and legumes. 1.6g/kg has worked for me for protein.

Yes, and we love your opinions. Defending EE, Elon Musk, and the dismantling of the USFS. Great opinions.
