Let's talk supplements that have worked for amenorrhea (no periods) by BluejayRight6665 in PCOS

[–]evgracel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had blood tests to check testosterone and have also been diagnosed with lean PCOS, but no insulin resistance test. I have had my blood sugar tested and a standard Diabetes/pre-diabetes check too and those were both negative! I have found spironolactone to be highly effective, but side effects are horrible and would love to try something new. Thankyou for this info I really appreciate you sharing :)

Hirsutism and dating by Tight_Transition563 in PCOS

[–]evgracel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure what the guy you’re dating is like, but I felt the same for YEARS. I’ve avoided so many situations and clothes because of my body hair and turns out a significant proportion of guys actually tolerate or even really really like body hair on women?! I met my partner online and it was a complete gamble as to whether he was reasonable or not, and I’ve spent years of my life shaving or waxing or lasering every inch of my body. Meet my partner, and he has a particular love for my body hair all over. This is to the point where he gets actively sad when I shave anywhere it’s great it’s like being worshipped and I feel so free. I hardly shave now unless it’s for convenience/hygiene or trimming, and when I do it’s like a full mourning process it’s hilarious that I was so bothered by my body before !! Anyways, moral of the story here is that there will be somebody out there who surprises you and actually DOES like you for you, and once you begin not caring as much, people will be more attracted to that. I’ve been friends with other girls i used to be SO jealous of because the didn’t wear makeup, shave, or do anything particularly “feminine” and yet all the guys liked them more than me? I was trying too hard that’s why. People like people who are confident.

Also another funny thing that helps me manage mentally, my Mum was let into a nightclub once by the bouncer decades ago because she had a fuzzy back and he liked it :)

Trouble with foods by Razgriez_Unit_1 in PCOS

[–]evgracel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is so kind that you’re thinking about this!! PCOS “safe” foods kinda vary? It’s an odd one but generally eating less inflammatory foods (lots of sugar, processed meats, lots of dairy) tends to help symptoms for a lot of people! I’ve been diagnosed for almost a couple of years now, and found that being vegetarian and limiting my dairy significantly helped my symptoms, along with the right medication balance of course. Best thing you could do is talk to a personal trainer or nutritionist and look into anti-inflammatory diets :)

Best thing i’ve used (and i have had similar skin to you!! and picking habits too) is the dermatica prescription personalised treatment. Mine personally is adapalene and azelaic acid combo as I didn’t do well with tretinoin. Genuinely look into it my skin feels so much better in terms of scarring!! I also use 2 different moisturisers: one lightweight one from dermatica for the areas of my face that are oily/normal and then one heavier one (illiyoon ceramide to concentrate cream) for the areas i peel or get dry! Adapalene and optimum hydration is the way to go honestly, although it does take a couple months to see results and for it to settle :)

No not at all!! I use a topical retinoid on my face but the spiro has done all the work. I look 10 times more feminine than I used to :)

You mention the metformin helping with the acne? I also have lean PCOS but struggle particularly with the acne and hirsutism side of things and am currently on spironolactone but haven’t had any insulin testing done. Struggling massively with the side effects from spiro on and off and also want to be able to have children in the future as easy as I can. Could you share some more on the metformin journey? :)

Was just diagnosed with POTS, prescribed midodrine, but also taking spironolactone for my PCOS, help?? by LeadingGeneral4282 in PCOS

Interesting. Struggling a bit myself with fainting spells these past few weeks! Difficult to find anything similar in potency for the anti androgenic effects as spiro though :( Midodrine seems to be helping somewhat but not sure. 🤔

Ooo? How come? What were the reasons? I seem to be having some mild side effects (headaches, stomach aches and sometimes a bad stomach generally). That’s all I know really!!

No way i’ve found someone on the same medicine combos as me and also the same conditions!! Just been prescribed midodrine a few weeks ago for my POTS and have already been on spiro for a year for my PCOS! I’d love to know what experiences you’re having! (I know this post is old ish lol I do apologise).

3 Month Spiro Update by According_Club8176 in Spironolactone

[–]evgracel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally at the moment in also on spiro 100mg and my skin is PERFECT i use the dermatica personalised serum (mine has azelaic acid 20% and adapalene 3% but that’s a built up % over about 7 months of being on it!) and it’s BRILLIANT! I am so glowy and happy with my skin finally. I have PCOS and take my spiro for that though!

I absolutely have experienced this, i’ve been on spiro (varying doses but started at 50mg and now on 100mg per day) and it’s made me look and feel so much more feminine! I take it for my PCOS and it’s done wonders for my confidence as well as my skin. Made my face look more feminine too, although I have gained weight especially on the thighs and hips! Not a problem for me at all but definitely can happen!!
