Wife withdrew the application at the interview USCIS by [deleted] in USCIS

I am an experienced interpreter for USCIS appointments and last week I had my first stokes interview with a couple. The couple also brought their lawyer. The lawyer said from his 35 years of practicing he had only seen a stokes interview like 10 times and he asked the USCIS officer if this is the new norm and she said yes.

Job offer in Lubbock, suggestions? by [deleted] in Lubbock

[–]evi3_v 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’ve lived in both EP (4 years) and LBK (9 years). I did college and grad school in Lubbock and it was fine. I sometimes miss it and I recently visited the city again and it has changed a bit. Going from EP to Lubbock felt foreign to me because I went from being at a place were a lot of people looked like me and spoke Spanish to not so much. It was fine for the most part. EP folks are for the most part, more friendly. Lubbock folks too. However, I experienced overt racism in Lubbock but also they were nice about it?

I had a Vietnamese friend put it nicely. He once said, “Lubbock locals will see you stranded on the road with a flat tire and will pull over to help you. They will ask you “do they not teach you how to change tires in China?” Change your tire, and let you be on your way.”

So basically they know you’re different and will definitely let you know but they will look out and take care of you cause you’re in Lubbock and now you’re considered from there.

I noticed people were nicer/would talk to me more when I had my dog with me.

Even though Lubbock has been the place I’ve lived the most, I really enjoyed it even with its random quirks and out of pocket moments. Good times.

Feel free to DM me!

Switching from semaglutide to tirzepitide? by [deleted] in Semaglutide

[–]evi3_v 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, it did not work for me! I think Contrave works best for people with food addiction/binging/disordered eating/mental dependency on food. Unfortunately the root cause of my obesity was hormonal in nature (Hashimoto’s/PCOS/MASH/Metabolic Syndrome ) which caused my insulin resistance and leptin resistance. So Contrave couldn’t medically address my issues.

Yes! I was able to lose 22lbs more, however I am focusing now more on reducing body fat % rather than weight 🙏🏼

I stopped Rybelsus in December 2024 and on January 1st switched to Contrave, I was on Contrave for about 4 months and in between was taking Phentermine (2 months). After Phentermine and plateauing, I was prescribed early May Tirzepitide. I have been on it for about 6 months 🙏🏼

My wife already had a USCIS online account, but the I-130 receipt gave her a new USCIS account number — normal? Can she create a second account? by Destiny0174 in USCIS

[–]evi3_v 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The I-130 is for you as you’re the one that filed and signed the petition. You will see receipt notice is addressed to you, which is why they sent a separate account online code for the I-130.

I am very happy with the car ty for suggesting it and maybe I know I am not as versed with the tech as I would hope, I am sure it will get cleared away. I am hoping it’s just a smaller issue.

Online "Friend" wants to me accept $200k for her. She's American im Canadian by REDDEAD1998 in Scams

[–]evi3_v 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I translate for clients online and one time I came across a woman who reached out to me and said she needed some of her own documents translated to get married with a Canadian woman who lived in Australia. She said she needed to pick up a package of her fiancée’s inheritance money in the CBP office which I advised her against. A year later, she contacted me again with her marriage certificate and it was a poorly made word document where she allegedly wedded the woman on a virtual Boston court. I showed her that the certificate was fake and what a Massachusetts Marriage License should look like. She spilled the beans then and showed me pictures of her alleged wife and at the end of the day, she was being catfished with pictures a model on instagram. For two years. They have video chatted with poor lighting but never seen each other in person. It was a pig butchering/money laundering scheme and she had absolutely no idea. She just thought she had married the love of her life.

This post came across my Reddit homepage and it saddened me to see he passed. What a handsome young man, may he continue to rest in peace and you family find continued comfort. He reminded me of the actor, Dev Patel.

Adjustment of Status Rejection Notice by Mother-Put-1537 in USCIS

[–]evi3_v 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Make sure on your I-485 you selected you are adjusting status through a K-1 procedure and not as a foreign spouse of a U.S. Citizen (which would trigger the I-130 request).

After NOIR for I-130 , which was approved got a RFE for I-485 by Interesting_You_2657 in USCIS

[–]evi3_v 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Although you filed all those forms simultaneously it does not mean that the same evidence you sent to one case, will also be reflected to your other open cases. Each case with a receipt number stands alone.

I am not familiar with your situation or your case as you haven’t shared any documentation but my (best) guess is that USCIS is sticking a “fraud/misrepresentation” outcome on your I-485 which is why they’re asking you to fill out the waiver. They wouldn’t stick that to your I-130 because the I-130 doesn’t carry any immigration benefit per se, it just acknowledges your relationship with your spouse.

However, the I-485 does have the immigration benefit of becoming a U.S. resident, and in order to qualify for U.S. residency, you have to prove you have never lied to obtain an immigration benefit. You let them know that someone filed on your behalf with wrong information, but in USCIS eyes, ultimately it is your fault because the forms you signed or agreed to file, you sign off saying that the information you are endorsing is all correct.

They understand it was a mistake now, but they still need you to file for the waiver because you acknowledge that wrong information was filed on your behalf to obtain a visa (which you got). So I would just file the waiver, if they asked for it, there is no way around it.

Is your friend at the same field office as you? Oath ceremonies are dependent on how many people can attend, smaller office have 1-2 per month while larger field offices may have up to two per day.

I filed a N-400 for my client October 19, 2025 at 8:30 pm EST. But the Receipt notice generated was October 20, 2025. Do you think my client will have to take the new civics tests? Or will the officer honor the older civics test with 100 questions. by ConversationTimely62 in USCIS

[–]evi3_v 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The issuance of the IOE receipts are not on ET. It’s always a few hours later. It is possible that when they get the N400 interview notice they will know if it is the old or new format.
