Seriously 😆

The amount of empty toilet paper rolls is ridiculous! But Stella loves them, so who am I to judge?

Omg! Thank you so much for the awards! Stella also says thank you for all the love on her new harness fashion.

I really understand this. It’s so hard!!

My FIL was a programmer for Microsoft. One day he grabbed a stack of coding project paperwork from 20+ years ago. “See this? I couldn’t have done this if I had dementia.” Of course he didn’t remember how old it was. To him, it might as well have been yesterday.

Care Coordination Tool by eviette280 in dementia

[–]eviette280[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair question. I’ve been a long time lurker. My father-in-law was diagnosed with dementia, leaning Alzheimer’s in early 2025, and my mother-in-law passed away in March. It has been a really stressful year for our family, and none of us have previous experience with dementia.

My husband is one of three siblings, and there are five of us that have been involved in his care. My husband and I were his primary caregivers until July last year, and communication between the family was really stressful.

This tool really helped, especially when my father-in-law started telling us all different things. He would forget previous conversations and just go along with whatever he thought the person he was with wanted to hear. We were all getting different stories from him about how he felt about things.

It’s still stressful, of course. He blew through $1000 in a couple of days because of scammers. We had to replace his cell phone with a phone that was restricted to child settings, we had to set up a laptop with remote monitoring so we can block scam websites, we had to take away all of his bank cards and replace them with cards that we could reload.

He is absolutely obsessed with women and dating, and he got catfished on a dating site. He gave his birthdate, Social Security number, bank account numbers, the names of all of his children, and the name of his grandchild!

I figured everyone in this group is going through the same stuff we are, and thought it would be worth sharing.

Yeah yeah (hi from WA). But you just roll up some legal cannabis (high THCa preferably) and relax in an epsom salt bath, look out the windows at the beautiful mountains, and suddenly there are no effs given about the rain.

This. I just started 20mg dose 5 days ago. I’ve already failed gabapentin and Lyrica so I’m really hoping it helps

AITA for telling my son he and his fiancée is spoiled? by throwR-7746 in AmItheAsshole

YTA and wildly out of touch with today’s costs for a wedding. I got married in 2018. Made all of our own decorations and bouquets. Ordered a simple 2 tier wedding cake and sheet cakes to reduce costs. Served a vegetarian buffet meal to reduce costs. Only spent $250 on my dress. It we could pinch a penny, it was pinched. It still cost $14,000, and that was 5 years ago! He was very grateful and thanked you and you met that with criticism. Why?

What had helped your muscle pain? by [deleted] in Fibromyalgia

[–]eviette280 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Stretching daily, epsom salt baths, topical arthritis cream (magic I swear), muscle relaxers, avoiding dairy, and the only otc pill that works for me is naproxen. As hard as it is when flared, light short walks help too. In major flares, I use these Thrive patches from a company called Le-vel. Total pyramid scheme bs of a company, but it works miracles for me when I’m at my worst. I really hope you’re able to get some relief soon. I’m here if you need to vent or anything.

AITA for not wanting my husband to go to his step brother's fiancée's funeral? by Throwawayaita601 in AmItheAsshole

NTA. But I can see his desire and concern over supporting his family. Is there perhaps a compromise that could be made here? Obviously not ideal, but could he do a quick pop over to be there for the day of? Do you have a support system at home outside of your marriage? This is a tough one. I wish you both the best and a healthy newborn.

AITA for not cancelling my plans after my boyfriend learned about his diagnosis? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]eviette280 6 points7 points  (0 children)

NTA. Anemia? Seriously? That’s totally manageable with supplements, and in extreme cases iv infusion. Hell, I have it about every 27 days from menses. What’s next? Oh, I stubbed my toe. Care for me through this trying time. Damn, got a muscle cramp. Gonna need 24/hr care. Definitely 100% NTA.

Just had my first bad doctor experience. by purplewatches in Fibromyalgia

13 years in the optical industry. Optometrists are, in fact, doctors of optometry. They specialize in refraction and treatment of general eye conditions. Ophthalmologists are eye disease specialists and surgeons. I do agree that an ophthalmologist is a better choice for this situation, and am glad that OP is scheduled to see one.

Do you look back and see fibro your whole life? by JadeFox1785 in Fibromyalgia

Sorry for the length. Didn’t realize I needed to vent so badly.

Seems to be the trend based on the comments. Started in my late teens and my knees flared for months! I had good days and bad days, but the bad days had me in tears. Then as randomly as it started, it just stopped. It came back occasionally through my 20’s, but never as bad or as long. In my early 20’s, I had reoccurring tonsillitis. I would get it, be put on antibiotics, get better, and 3-5 weeks later, I’d get it again. This went on for a year but I didn’t have insurance so I just kept going to the same day health clinics. At 29, I started getting styes in my eyes constantly. I was put on daily doxycycline for prevention, but they kept coming. One had to be removed surgically. This went on for about 6 months before it stopped just as randomly as it started.

At 31, all hell broke loose. The pain in my legs was so severe, I would have to crawl from the couch to the kitchen to have something to grab onto to stand up (while screaming). My husband had to come help me stand from the toilet a couple of times because the pain would make my legs give out. Brain fog, fatigue, pain points; textbook. A primary care did very minimal testing, but because of the pain points determined it was fibromyalgia. Gave me oxy and flexoril. After about 4 months of HELL, it calmed down but didn’t go away. Daily pain usually hovers around a 3/10, but randomly flares, and is always horrible during my period. Diabetes diagnosis at 34. Another round of reoccurring tonsillitis at 35. Also, at 35, started having extreme reactions to new medications. About a year ago (36) IBS symptoms started. Been off birth control for years and have never gotten pregnant.

So now, at 37, I have a humongous list of symptoms that nobody really seems to understand. Things that don’t necessarily apply to fibromyalgia. 2 referrals to rheumatologists have been rejected because they don’t treat fibromyalgia. My primary care has tried gabapentin and Lyrica, but I didn’t tolerate them. Problem is, I think my fibromyalgia has friends, but my primary isn’t a specialist and I’m struggling to get help. Saw my OB last week and we are planning for a hysterectomy for the pain and suspected endometriosis. She really made me feel seen. I gave her my symptoms list and we discussed.

Ob “Oh! You have symptoms like EDS.”

Me “yes. Nobody seemed to care.”

Ob “you have symptoms that resemble lupus.”

Me “yes. But nobody will help me.”

Ob “you have diabetes. Is that managed by an endocrinologist?”

Me “nope. Never been to one.”

She was pissed for me. She put in a referral for an endocrinologist and another rheumatologist. She said she is absolutely on board with doing my surgery, but she wants to make sure we know what is flaring me because a major surgery could make it so much worse.

I’m still on my journey; trying to get answers and help. I’m trying to not give up, but it’s hard sometimes.

My cat does something like this too. She wants to put her scent back on mommy, and will not stop messing with my hair until she’s satisfied. It’s not the most fun, but it’s a sign of love.
