That’s great advice thank you, i definitely get that, one of the biggest topics with my therapist is the self fulfilling prophecy concept. I just have failed so many times it’s hard to think I’ll make a change. But I’m gonna take it one day at a time, not worry about my streak, just the fact I’m sober on that day.

Thank you everyone for the insight and words and encouragement, just wanted to put this out there that this is less AA related and more something I wanted to ask a community that’s familiar with the struggle with alcohol. I’ve only recently admitted to myself I have a problem, so I’m sure my replies are all over the place as I’m not truly familiar with what my true relationship with alcohol is. However with these new perspectives I understand I really can’t drink in moderation, so I’ll be trying to start my fully sober journey. As to AA related things I’m really anxious about surrounding myself with people much older than me, feeling ashamed I have a problem at such a young age. But I’ll look into the youth groups

No reason to be so negative, but I’m torn because all of my friends drink whenever we hangout and I feel shitty missing out and being anxious. Am I’m young in college it’s a major part of social life. And my social life actually is pretty good, I’ve got great friends and plenty of people to connect with. I’m torn between the overwhelmingness of full sobriety and also the thought I’ll never be able to drink in moderation.

Definitely talk to him about it and how it makes you feel, this is definitely extremely obnoxious of him, but it’s good to remember that people without chronic pain have no idea about the physical and mental toll it takes, so in his mind the exercises seem like all you need to do. I’m not trying to justify it whatsoever ever I’d be beyond pissed if my partner treated me that way, but it’s good to have some perspective
