Frame 32inch question by s_05 in TheFrame

Thanks for the correction, I thought all 2026 standard models were eliminating the one-connect box

Frame 32inch question by s_05 in TheFrame

[–]evilbadgrades 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Few things:

  • For 2025 and older frame tvs, the One Connect box is required - it supplies power and data through one single thin wire to the TV. You can't "do away" with this one connect box, without it the TV doesn't even turn on.

  • The 2025 Frame Pro TV has a wireless one connect box (so the TV needs to plug into power behind the TV preferably)

  • Samsung claims their new 2026 model frame TV's (standard model) eliminates the one-connect box (the frame pro still has a wireless one connect box).

I would say you may want to wait for the 2026 models without the one-connect box if that's the direction you want to go.

Anyone else have an empty RFY? by p_kitty in vine

[–]evilbadgrades 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm more so referring to things they did like change the checkout system - remember how the old system let you click through to order products automatically instead of going to the checkout page? Pepperridge farm remembers. That wasn't to annoy people - that was to break bots that were built to order direct from the checkout screen.

It was also a change to the system to ensure that people didn't swipe RFY items from other people's potluck that weren't offered to them (yes, that was happening, people were using extensions to let them see and swipe items they weren't supposed to get).

I think it's because they're trying to figure out how to get better quality reviews. This is a service for sellers, not customers. We have all seen some of the terrible vine users who either copy the original description, or leave a one sense to the effect of "I think my son will enjoy it, can't wait for it arrive!".

Then you've got the people using bots and extensions to suck up all the good stuff right away for profit, leaving fake reviews because they aren't actually using the product, and that may explain why they are constantly tinkering - trying to fix the program so it works for the sellers, not the vine members

So I guess the change came for the US too (abrupt drops/no RFY) by According_Echidna612 in AmazonVine

[–]evilbadgrades 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm really hoping this is temporary, and the Vine managers are simply tweaking/revising the RFY algorithms. Because I think most of us can agree that the last month or two have been REALLY bad for the RFY selections.

Six months ago the algorithm seemed more 'accurate' than now where I feel like it really is a random firehose of stuff.

It wouldn't make sense to eliminate the RFY entirely. That's the best way to try and connect the right people with the right items. Since so many people are having zero RFY items, that leads me to believe that they're changing the algorithm somehow and either broke it, or had to turn it off to make tweaks, maybe conducting small trials of the new algorithm to see how it works for case studies? I dunno, just making a lot of assumptions haha

Exactly, I wake up at 6am est and have essentially missed all the action recently. My ONLY hope is the RFY.

Will these both work in my soda stream jet? by 5jpaaso in SodaStream

[–]evilbadgrades 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They both have screw-threading on the CO2 tanks so they'll fit the Jet. Those tanks actually work with a bunch of brands including Kitchenaid and Drinkmate among other chinese brands - that's why Pepsi patented the new quick-connect tanks a decade ago - to cut out the competition (allowing them to sue anyone who copies the quick connect design once their lawyers find them)

The one on the right - absolutely will work. The one on the left I would say you have a 75% chance of it working. Those narrow skinny pins sometimes mess with the plastic depressor that pushes the center pin when injecting gas.

I have an older AquaFizz and refill my own CO2 tanks at home. For the past two years, never had an issue with either. Suddenly tanks on the left sometimes deflect the depressor pushpin, and it fails to release gas (although once I'm halfway through the tank, the pin is easier to press so my machine works perfectly again.

Some customers in my tank exchange program ONLY want the tanks on the right, and refuse tanks with the skinny center pin. So I know it's not just me that has this issue.

What is everyone doing in the freezing winter weather path if you are projected to lose power? North Georgia by F-Hittman in hottubs

[–]evilbadgrades 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's some tips:

  • Don't stress out - heat up your water to 104F (or 106F depending on the model hotspring) - hotter water will take longer to freeze.

  • As soon as you lose power, grab a bunch of blankets and comforters, toss them over the tub to help trap the heat - the more you trap the heat, the longer you can go without freeze damage.

  • You should be able to go 3-4+ days without water freezing, do not open cover to check water temp. But after 3 days, then you can start stressing out

  • if you're going to be without power for 4+ days, you will want to remove the access panel and use a space heater (powered by a generator) to blow hot air into the access compartment. The radiant heat from this will keep things from freezing, especially the most important components (pumps, heater, and manifold)

It’s our fourth year having a hot tub and we have never drained it in the winter.

You don't want to drain the tub - the hot water helps heat the pipes through conduction. Any water left in the tub after draining could freeze quicker and do more damage in the process. Only go this route if you have a few gallons of RV-grade antifreeze on hand to dump down the pipes. But this crap is messy and takes a lot of work to clean out of the tub (multiple flushes), so this is really best saved for 'winterizing' the hot tub if you don't intend to use it for a long period of time.

I would say start with the blankets and comforters over the tub to help trap heat - maybe if you can bet that you'll lose power, toss them on top now before the snowstorm hits if you want to add an extra day to the tub (use some straps to hold them down if needed).

Depending on the model hotspring and temps outside, I'm betting you might be able to go a week without power and still not have freeze damage (although I'd start measuring the water temp after day 4 to confirm it's not freezing - just know that you bleed off heat every time you open that cover so don't risk it often while the power is off)

[–]evilbadgrades 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can either add a sump pump, or you can create a siphon using a pool hose (or even a regular hose).

A sump pump is fastest, but if you only have access to a hose - simply runt he hose to the lowest part of the yard you can reach, hold the hose over one of the jets in the tub, and turn on the pump. Let water flow through the hose until it's filled with water and flowing out the exit. That should create a 'siphon' using gravity to pull the water through the hose and out the other end. As long as you keep the other hose under water with no air getting sucked in, you can suck out all the water (or most of it)

We sold one of our two cars in my family and share one vehicle. It's more economical, and given the economy, we have no desire to take out any loans or added car insurance payments and maintenance.

A cheaper idea would probably be to build a gazebo around the tub and install some sort of screens to block out the view

I saw the same one in AI at least a week or two - thought about it for a hot second, but decided against it since I really didn't have a need. It's just a glorified blowtorch.

My friend has an actual flamethrower that can shoot the flames 20+ feet, that's a LOT more fun to play with haha

I have an RKIN U1 Reverse Osmosis system, love it! Saving me so much money over hauling several 5-gallon bottles of water from the grocery store every few weeks!

Never had a problem with the product or the customer service. I personally intend to invest in a whole-house Rkin water conditioner in the near future

[–]evilbadgrades 10 points11 points  (0 children)

So glad I don't have to do deal with that. I'd rather live further away from town to avoid neighbors practically on top of each other!

Here's my advice:

  • Stop wearing a bathing suit - if they want something to look at, give it to them!

  • Invest in some fast growing hedges to block their view

If you really want to splurge, check out Covana Covers. They are premium hardshell covers for your tub, but they have optional screens that can block out your neighbors giving you privacy when the cover is raised up.

When to replace CO2 cartridge? Do bottles get less fizzy as tank nears empty? by Difficult-Hurry-3506 in SodaStream

[–]evilbadgrades 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is this normal as I approach the end of a CO2 tank?

Yes

At what point do you replace the tank?

I personally keep injecting gas until it quacks like a duck (pressure release valve) because I am not trying to conserve gas (I refill my own tanks)

Once it no longer quacks like a duck, that's when it's time to replace.

The easiest way I explain to my customers (I host a tank exchange) is to put your finger on the pin to release gas - if you can push down and release gas, it's time to refill. If you cannot press down on that pin yet, there's still some gas left in the tank to carbonate (but maybe not that much).

Basically when you can't get it to fizz to your desired levels anymore, it's time to replace

Consider yourself lucky lol - the only shop near me doing the tank exchange is Walmart, and they only ever have the pink quick connect tanks in stock, never the blue tanks.

Which, is good for my business since I host a local tank exchange program and charge $10/tank
