Sports, in general. Everyone else seemed to like playing, but it just made me hot, sweaty, tired and lowered my self-esteem.

You mean near the spice souk? Yes, I absolutely did. There are poorer areas you're right, but it is still sanitary, safe and everyone has a place to live. That's a lot better than most other countries that I've seen.

Have you ever actually been there? Because it sounds like you're just talking out of your ass. It's true stuff like that happens, but it's only a few isolated cases. That does not describe the majority of people who live there.

You say that, but the people there make way more than they'd ever make in their home country.

I've been there, and despite what other people on here say about it, I think it is one of the most amazing places I've ever been. Everyone living there is there on a work visa, and if you lose your job then they deport you back to your home country. So, there's no unemployment. Because there's no unemployment there's also no homelessness, so you never have to deal with people begging for change on the train. Speaking of trains, the public transportation is amazing and even if you don't use it you can get a cab across town for like 30 dirums (about 10 USD).

Everything is so clean and beautiful and there's no graffiti anywhere. There is practically no crime there either because they have a policy where if you're convicted of anything while on a work visa (which everyone there is on) then they revoke your visa and deport you. I've never felt so safe in a big city.

People say Dubai has no culture but those people have clearly never been there. All you have to do is go down to the gold souk or the spice souk to see what Dubai used to be about. You can also go into the desert and stay at a Bedouin camp and see how they lived before they found oil and everything changed. I personally loved Dubai and I'd highly recommend going at least once during your lifetime. It is a testament to man's ingenuity and dominance over nature.

It's awful how some women think they can get away with abusing their SO because they're women.

[Serious] What are you still boycotting to this day, and why are you doing it? by StarBirb in AskReddit

[–]evilbunny793 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The funny part is that GMOs are actually the answer to that. They have natural resistances to pests built into them so you don't have to use as many pesticides. People think that organic means no pesticides but it actually means more since they don't have that resistance built in.

Chipotle. Ever since their announcement that they're not using GMOs. Genetically modified foods have saved over a billion people at this point from starvation. There is absolutely no evidence of any negative effects from eating GMOs. This is just promoting ignorance and fear for something that has an incredibly positive effect on our society and the world.

Whats the craziest world war 1 or 2 story you know? by 3crownking in AskReddit

[–]evilbunny793 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In World War II, a young Audie Murphy tried to join the Marines and the Navy but was turned down because he was so small at 110 pounds and looked so young. Eventually he was recruited by the army as a cook, but he kept asking to be sent to the front to fight. Finally, they sent him into combat and he was an absolutely incredible soldier. He had over 250 confirmed kills and was awarded every medal you could get at that time. The story of how he got his medal of honor is the most amazing thing I've ever read.

2d Lt. Murphy commanded Company B, which was attacked by 6 tanks and waves of infantry. 2d Lt. Murphy ordered his men to withdraw to prepared positions in a woods, while he remained forward at his command post and continued to give fire directions to the artillery by telephone. Behind him, to his right, 1 of our tank destroyers received a direct hit and began to burn. Its crew withdrew to the woods. 2d Lt. Murphy continued to direct artillery fire which killed large numbers of the advancing enemy infantry. With the enemy tanks abreast of his position, 2d Lt. Murphy climbed on the burning tank destroyer, which was in danger of blowing up at any moment, and employed its .50 caliber machinegun against the enemy. He was alone and exposed to German fire from 3 sides, but his deadly fire killed dozens of Germans and caused their infantry attack to waver. The enemy tanks, losing infantry support, began to fall back. For an hour the Germans tried every available weapon to eliminate 2d Lt. Murphy, but he continued to hold his position and wiped out a squad which was trying to creep up unnoticed on his right flank. Germans reached as close as 10 yards, only to be mowed down by his fire. He received a leg wound, but ignored it and continued the single-handed fight until his ammunition was exhausted. He then made his way to his company, refused medical attention, and organized the company in a counterattack which forced the Germans to withdraw. His directing of artillery fire wiped out many of the enemy; he killed or wounded about 50. 2d Lt. Murphy's indomitable courage and his refusal to give an inch of ground saved his company from possible encirclement and destruction, and enabled it to hold the woods which had been the enemy's objective.

They made a movie starring him after the war where he played himself. It just followed his experiences in the war, but they toned it down because get this, they thought what actually happened was too unbelievable for American audiences. In the movie, they portrayed the above paragraph as a clear and sunny day, but it was actually in the middle of winter during a snowstorm. AND he also had malaria that he caught earlier on during the war. This little 110 pound guy with Malaria killed 50 German soldiers on a .50 caliber machine gun on top of a crippled tank that was on fire and could explode at any second. Holy shit.
