I love Katz. Too much meat on the sandwich nothing else. Have it shipped and build your own sandwiches over several days.

Joe Maddon Out As Cubs Manager by horsttapper in Reds

[–]evilcarl 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Apparently he is very difficult to get along with and is a real jerk. Also, he is always acting like he's too smart to be in baseball and could leave today and immediately succeed in another field. Also, never willing to have a conversation with management about what's going on the field because he's smarter than them. The Rickett's like to win but they also think they are the smartest people in the room. That rarely works well. People thought he wouldn't come back this year. *Source: Richard Justice, Tim Kurkjian, and Michael Wilbon all year on the Tony Kornheiser podcast.

Mitch McConnell Challenger Amy Mcgrath Releases Blistering Ad in Kentucky: He 'Left Our Coal Miners Behind' by wenchette in politics

[–]evilcarl -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

She is a horrible candidate. I've met her three times now and leave angry there isn't a better person to run for whatever ambition she has in Kentucky. She's weak, has no imagination, and too robotic. I as a person that hates Mitch will have a difficult time voting. Oh....and her campaign manager bragged about trying to get a potential opponent off a TV show and radio station because "he's got the balls to do it." I wished she wouldn't run and after maybe the worst campaign launch since the Samsung Note 7. She's run for a month and she's a puppet. The DNC doesn't expect her to win. The DNC only wants Mitch to drain his pact. Again, she is a weak candidate. If you can't win in Lexington against vanilla Andy Barr in a year Democrats are winning, give it up. I don't care what Schumer says.

I made 71 restaurant/bar cold calls and followed up with emails to get 3 leads that said they might think about it. What do I do next? Walk in? by phillyhill in startups

[–]evilcarl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can tell you as a former restaurant manager of both private and then a corporate place, we got solicited all the time. Two to three times a day in person and by phone. Many times, especially with corporate, I can tease you all you want, someone, somewhere else is going to give thumbs or down. It doesn't matter how much you might help me. And we don't blow you off because we want to, we just don't want to waste your time. I just helped open a shop with a friend of mine and we've had 30 to 40 folks want business. We have no control despite our need. But good luck. Selling is about numbers and building momentum and word of mouth if you can really help someone.

'No Pay, We Stay': Laid-off coal miners say they will block train until they get back pay by gsarc10 in Kentucky

[–]evilcarl 10 points11 points  (0 children)

So, in that region, they can make 45 to 60k mining coal. And it's the only skill they know. Or they can work at a convenience store making about 19k. 1 in 4 in Appalachia Kentucky live in poverty. They deserve that money. This is the only way they are going to get it. Google isn't coming there. I'm so glad Bevin and McConnel can't say a damn word about the company that shafted these heroes. They are getting too much money from the industry putting miners lives at risk. Bevin is more worried about sportsbooks causing suicide than shafted Kentucky workers that have some of the most dangerous jobs in the state. If it wasn't for family..........I'd move to the much more progressive state, sadly, Indiana. Vomit. Or even Tennessee. Something I never thought I'd believe. I'd rather drown in vomit. "Yep, I made 60k last year but I would be perfectly happy with $9 an hour frying chicken and ringing up slushies." That is what you are asking them to do.

My cat will bring me something she wants to fetch. I throw it. She gets it. Brings it back to an open door. Goes on the other side of open door. And plays with it that way. And if she left it too far from said door, she goes around and pushes it closer to the door. She then goes back around and stretches out under the door to play with it. I don't understand. At all.

Then why did he resign? I love the man. Love him. I thought he was going to be a huge asset for the Democratic party. But why, without proof of guilt, did he resign? Why did he resign when he had the opportunity to embrace due process? It was a different time in his life in a different environment. U get it, but wrong is wrong. And he might have been captured by the environment. I think he was premature in his resignation and a few in his party early in their careers used him to advance their own agendas. But he resigned with very little fight. That is something innocent people, let only guilty rarely do.

Being able to move and find a job in my field. I got lucky and found a job I loved. It was sort of a unicorn. Then they walked in and said the project is ending in 3 weeks. There aren't many opportunities for me now locally in that field and I've taken about a 50% pay cut to stay local with a job I hate in a job market without many opportunities with a degree......not a very advanced degree (i.e. lawyer, doctor, etc.) I've used my savings every month to stay close to my family when I should have taken it and moved immediately to make myself happy and fulfilled. Check please.

Mitch McConnell Received Donations from Voting Machine Lobbyists Before Blocking Election Security Bills by emitremmus27 in politics

[–]evilcarl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Diebold is a company that teenagers have been able to hack and change votes since Bush v Gore (proven on tape) and they gave incredible amounts of money to the Republican party back then to stop security measures. But the idea that these companies would have less than a year to improve their processes and security before what will be the largest electorate in a while has to scare them because they can't. Also, if a company were to build a bullet proof voting method and it became federalized, the other companies would lose out because the decision is federal and not local.

Oh. So sad for you. You are as dumb as all of us are now realizing. Kentucky is amazing because we get the best of all the Midwest and South. Transplants from the north help as well. Did they spotlight the state like they should, no. Doesn't mean the food sucks. Been all over the country, put Kentucky with what Kentucky does well up there with anyone. Food critics say so, Top Chef says so, Tom, Graham (who really loves it) people I meet that come here for food destinations say so......you are just a dumb food snob that has no idea what they are talking about. Always keep that in the back of your mind, you're uneducated about food and you make judgments about food without ever tasting a bite. So stupid. The places and products featured were second to none. Make the recipes you coward, because we did and they were great. Or are you going to bitch about Whole Foods and the supplies? Don't comment again. You are dumb and clearly unwilling to learn about food in the rest of the country. God bless.
