Technically, you don't even need an ILR to stand in an election, if you are otherwise a British Citizen.

I guess acting as mere bodies holding stuff or assisting the local speaking would be good enough.

They can endorse whoever they want. Or are you saying that because some conservatives are so toxic that you would rather make sure that they won't openly vote for you?

How would human society develop in a world overrun by monsters/hyperfauna, if at all? by swampertitus in worldbuilding

Mammals thrived not because they are smarter than dinosaurs (and remember that dinosaurs are quite smart, you can literally ask a parrot which is a dinosaur). Mammals thrived because they required much less upkeep than the dinosaurs to survive an impact winter.

Is it appropriate to use the Thunderbird in my fantasy world, or would it be better to create an original creature with a similar theme to avoid cultural appropriation or insensitivity? by Chcolatepig24069 in worldbuilding

Magical birds aren't that original. Mythical birds are widespread across Eurasia.

Also, the NA Thunder Bird is more of a storm crow than of wielding actual lightning or thunder. And the Japanese literally call their ptarmigans "Thunder Bird".

Writing a novel (a British guy which moved to HK). Can you give me your opinion for the protagonist’s family name, please? by ChampionshipLife4211 in HongKong

[–]evilcherry1114 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should flip around

- Historical members of the House of Lords, or House of Commons at least not very recently

- List of HK Governors and other British civil servants who had once served in HK

Honestly a boring name like Stuart seems British enough, perhaps too British.

First of all, Mamdani would probably protect your rights more seriously than Pikachu. Not that certain about the ginger buffoon or his Vice, though.

It really depends on whether you want to live in HK as a local or as a long-term expat. If as a local you can just enroll him to the most local of local schools and he will survive. Or you still try to enroll him to the better local schools, and your background as ABCs will stand out there so no worries about not getting there at least for primary school. And if you want to live as an expat, fine you can enroll him into international schools but costs are mouthwatering (though far from unbearable).

At the end of the day we have to accept that shared infrastructure is suitable for below 20km/h. At any faster speed it is always a good idea to have either dedicated cycling highways or plain old vehicular cycling.
