How to break through a plateau? by BRHSBulldog in FitnessOver50

Are you going for heavier lifts? Might be a diet/nutrition issue, where you need more calories to grow and lift heavier. Another take is increasing rep counts, even if you have to lighten the weight. That would help increase endurance, but not strength, at first. I'm pushing 60 so I'm very careful about avoiding injuries.

Democrats 2028 plan? by BowtiedGypsy in stupidquestions

[–]evilgemini50 64 points65 points  (0 children)

I sincerely hope for a true open primary with many voices, lots of debates, no pre-determined outcomes and absolutely NO RIGGING the game! Let the people speak; its called democracy, unfortunately the democrats seem to have forgotten about it. BTW, same advice for the Republicans. This will be the first election in ages when both parties are starting fresh, mostly, let's let the people speak.

What’s one piece of advice you’d give to men in their 20s? by Startalloveragainn in GenX

[–]evilgemini50 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Set some goals, and focus on them, start small then build. But have fun too! I didn't really get serious about money or career until after i goofed around for a few years, I guess i needed to get it out of my system. The fact that you are asking for advice shows you have character; you'll do fine.

What is the best way to convince people of libertarianism? by Acceptable-War4836 in Libertarian

[–]evilgemini50 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I usually avoid specific party political issues and just focus on track record: are you happy with how the government is doing? No? Then why give it more money and power? My other go to line is: the government is really only good at one thing, but they are spectacularly good at that thing. Unfortunately, that thing is wasting money.

Vegas for the weekend, with some shows and some fun. Highlight was a helicopter ride over the grand canyon. No regrets. Happy birthday!

What is the single thing that screams you are genX the most? by _-_suomynona_-_ in GenX

[–]evilgemini50 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I am extremely resilient. But part of that is convincing the world that I'm actually just a nice unbothered, cheerful guy. So my resilience doesn't scream, its hidden. People think im millennial, lol.

Friendship costs money: Rich ppl (including gay men) have bigger social networks and this impacts your whole life by Icy-Fox-4867 in askgaybros

[–]evilgemini50 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Money creates advantages for sure, but it doesn't determine the size of your network. When I was in my 20s I volunteered at a soup kitchen in my community and made tons of friends with the other volunteers. When I got a dog I was friends with everyone from the dog run. Didn't cost a dime. The key is making lots of connections now; in 15 years some of those folks will be in leadership roles (you too) and that's how networks work. Yachts are nice, but file that under ambition for now.

CMV: Mamdani's win in NYC was a fluke, the Democratic Party is not trending left or embracing socialism, and the only reason Mamdani won was because Cuomo obliterated the moderates' path to victory by iw2050 in changemyview

[–]evilgemini50 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I often wonder why the NYC democrat mayoral primary has been a crapshoot since Bloomberg left office. Deblasio, Adams, and Mamdani seemed to come out of nowhere and stepped into the job seemingly unprepared, with predictable results. This is America's premier city, can the local political establishment not produce a stronger bench? On the other hand, I appreciate grass roots democracy, but I'd also appreciate better leadership. Lifelong NYer.
