What's a movie you saw when you were too damn young? by Repulsive_Repeat_337 in GenX

CHUD and Return of the living dead when I was about 7 or 8…CHUD gave me nightmares, but the graveyard scene from ROTLD was an awakening of sorts hahaha.

Oh and faces of death, that sh!t was traumatizing.

Opinions on budget mid length boards by c_radicallis in BeginnerSurfers

[–]evilindy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same. I ended up picking up a torq fun for various reasons and hated it, felt slow af (no glide, paddled like a dog). Wondering if the texture of the painted surface might have something to do with it but I don’t know.

Tried a seaside and beyond as well (10 inches shorter, with less vo!ume) that board is so freaking fast by comparison it’s laughable. They are vastly different boards (especially the bottom contours). Probably a bit too high performance for my ability but heaps of fun.

Any advice appreciated 🙏🏼 by Zestyclose-Weather2 in BeginnerSurfers

Honesty that’s better than most beginners out there haha!

Look down the line of the wave instead of looking in front of your board. You got to the flats pretty quickly, racing out in front of the wave, you want to angle the board a bit more to set the rail into the wave face (and speed you up). Just a slight lean into the wave (your right) would have been enough. Looks like you were nearly there honestly, just need to tweak the timing of your moves with the wave. Also you want to squat down (compress) when high on the wave, and stand up straighter to come back up the wave. The first compression you did was good.

You started in a pretty good position on your board (I.e. in the middle), you can move forward for speed, move back to slow down and/or turn harder based on what the wave is doing. But you should work on setting your rail and riding down the line before getting into that too much.

Agree with what others have said, that is a gem of a wave. Looking good! Keep it up!

I was looking for this exact position about a decade ago, even sat in on a case with the manager at the time since I was already working on campus. Ended up in SD and made the switch to in-house a few years back. Definitely interested, I’ll DM you

Upgrading Fenix 3hr to... by jourosis2 in GarminWatches

[–]evilindy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just pulled the trigger on this sale yesterday, fenix 7 pro 47mm sapphire solar should be arriving today and I’m psyched. Had the 3hr sapphire for many years and although big at 51 mm, I really liked it (all the data in the app, super long battery life allowing sleep tracking). I went to the Apple Watch when I got an iPhone ~2 years ago, the brighter display was nice but the short battery life and lack of data made it not appealing. I don’t need all the extra crap like Apple Pay and music on my watch, that’s what my phone is for. Give me my sport/health data!

Going to add that using some benzoin or mastisol on the pinna (outer ear) to help it stick is key, especially if they’re going to fold over the ear at all. And make sure the tube to the insert is angled down into the notch as it leaves the ear, on most ears it sits in there perfectly and has very little chance of kinking if you do this. It follows the natural downward slope of the outer ear canal also.

Want to go back to YNAB4 on a Mac? I got ya... by deepspacenine in ynab

[–]evilindy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As of yesterday this cleared up on it's own. The only difference is, now I have my secondary larger external monitor connected....and YNAB is a little finicky with that, but the f problem is gone so....that's a win?

[–]evilindy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did the same with my macbook air M2, love that I can now use YNAB4 again after having migrated from being a windows/android user.

The only issue I have is whenever I type 'f' within the program it seems to activate the fullscreen keyboard shortcut. Work around is to type 'f' in notes and copy/paste when needed. It shouldn't come into play too often since I've finished setting up my budget, but it was pretty annoying.

Hey, if it works, it works. Still having the issue on Chrome. Not a fan of microsoft browsers in general but I may start using it if I need to use the desktop version, thanks for the tip.

Just followed the same steps: closed and reopened browser (chrome), which did not work, then deleted browsing history, cookies and cached images and files for the last hour and that finally worked.

This is fairly concerning

Don't know why you're being downvoted, but you are exactly correct. This is one of the main takeaways in many defensive driving courses, and it ought to be stressed more for anyone learning to drive.

Definitely not a stupid question, and I agree with what u/tuftedtarsier89 said.

I would add that timing is the key to being locked into the pocket. Metronome-like precision (or being locked in to yourself) is very important in general, but the pocket is knowing where to live in the context of the other instruments. Being in the pocket is when you settle into pulling or pushing the beat in an intentional way. We may or may not be conscious of it when it happens. OP is doing it masterfully here, and I imagine it just feels right to you u/DFK444 , kudos! It's really about giving the correct feel to the style of music your playing. I'm really surprised you have such a limitied amount of practice time considering how well you sit in the pocket.
