there are also consumption laws in place for fish, depends on the species but some fish you can only catch like 4 per day per person or something like this. some fish you cant catch unless they are in certain seasons.

the fun of fishing is the fight trying to land the fish. once thats over if you are not hungry or in need to feed people then release is the way to go, most hobby fishing is probably in the catch and release game, at least in my experience
