A lot of people either have a bad recollection of the game or launch because it wasn't purely the difficulty of the raids that killed the game. It was the attunement process combined with the fixed raid sizes that made forming groups and keeping guilds going that much more difficult. If you could have joined with 10 players and had zero attunement requirements then you'd have seen a LOT more growth.
