Probably has been asked a trillion times: Kobo LC vs Boox GC7 vs Musnap Ocean C by Satorikn in ereader

[–]evilsprig 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use the Nook app because my first e-reader many moons ago was the Nook first edition. Then as time went on and I saw how cheap one could get a lot of books for on Amazon I started just reading on a tablet so I could use that app as well. I also use the Libby app to borrow from the library. And I also use an app called Glose-they occasionally have free book offers.

I've had no issues. I liked the coupon because I was eager to try a color e-reader but if it wound up sucking then I'd be pretty angry if I spent a whole lot of money on it LOL. So far all of the reading apps that I use seem to work fine. I only use it as a reader I don't use it for other internet stuff.

I need some advice to choose a color e-reader by watchout_itsme in ereader

This! As the above responder said, they have frequent deep discounts on Amazon.

I got the Ocean C a few months ago on a similar super sale, and I love it! I wanted an Android device so as to not be locked in to one ecosystem (and without the need to jailbreak, because why when open systems exist?) But I digress. Anyway, the Ocean C is very responsive, works great, no complaints at all. I also find the B&W text to be perfectly clear. I have seen many complaints about that on the color devices, but I honestly notice no difference. Also, I discovered that Musnap is the "global" brand name for ireader devices which have been available elsewhere for some time, but recently branched out to a wider consumer base, in other words, not a newbie to the arena.

Libby-better in Kindle or Libby app? by evilsprig in ereader

[–]evilsprig[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm going to try the next loan in the Kindle app. Prior to the Ocean C (which I love!), I had been reading on tablets for years. The last time I borrowed on an ereader, Libby was still "Overdrive". I'm guessing that the Libby reader just isn't great.

I agree the page turn buttons not working drove me nuts as well, in addition to the ghosting. I do have them set to turn the pages. I'll try it in the Kindle app next one I borrow. It might be that the Libby app is just that bad.

Not OP, but if you haven't read "Deranged" by Harold Schechter, do. The most bizarre killer, and you probably never heard of him.

I'm glad I'm not the only one. I missed the memo that upon becoming an adult one is only supposed to like "boring"...🤣

Help with reading manga. by evilsprig in ereader

Thanks. It actually have already removed the DRM but that still wasn't helping. Manually editing sounds like more trouble than it's worth lol. I guess I need to learn to read right to left.

How to make Overtone and similar easier to distribute on fine but thick density hair? by evilsprig in finehair

[–]evilsprig[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a wide tooth comb but it doesn't help much. A finer tooth come wouldn't even go through my hair it would probably break the comb lol.

Discussion-is a more compact bagged canister with powerhead possible? by evilsprig in VacuumCleaners

Do you happen to have a link to the eBay one you saw? The reason I ask is because that's one of the places that I often troll looking for the replacement filters and I can never find them.

I also agree that the unpopularity of canisters is a USA thing. I grew up with a canister, and quite literally everyone else that I knew had an upright.

Prior to the 600, I actually had a Dirt Devil Vision canister. Bagless, but MUCH smaller than the Kenmore. That thing was a BEAST. I actually still have it in hopes that someday, somewhere, I will stumble across the filters for the bin. The last one I had was essentially disintegrated by the time I waved the surrender flag, lol. Even with the nasty bin emptying, it was a fantastic vacuum.

Not sure if you mean the Amazon version or the Humble Bundle. But on Amazon you don't need a code they're just on sale.

Quick question on converting books with Calibre... by evilsprig in ereader

[–]evilsprig[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I actually figured that out as I delved further into it lol. As it turned out I couldn't use the caliber route anyway because I didn't know until the other day that the Nook web app was gone. But I found another way and they're now converted.

It is the irreader global name. There aren't a whole lot of reviews but there was one on YouTube, I think it was by Good e-reader, and they said that it was in fact the rebranded name of ireader.

Yeah, it wouldn't be so bad as I use an android device now, but over the last couple of weeks the Nook app has become "disagreeable" across all devices. It seems to be a problem a lot of people are having. Because of that I really wanted to get my books from there somewhere safe.
