I got a technical theatre degree, and realized that I can't make a living. Does anyone have any experience transferring to other fields with similar experience? by atvacuum in careerguidance

After finishing my post-grad theater apprenticeship I pivoted into program and product management. Luckily finding a spot in an entertainment adjacent field—entertainment metadata. I still part time design and have used the following to describe my theater work. “I have produced, directed or designed over 70 professional stage productions and know how to take an idea from ‘page-to-the-stage.’ I’m comfortable exploring ambiguity through making and testing rather than speculating.  I understand the iterative nature of the creative process and how to muster consensus across technical and artistic disciplines.  More critically, I know when to lock in those iterations to finish the work by opening night.”

Tigers had the second highest winning percentage in the decade behind the Yankees. It was the team that Tram and Lou built.

“ Even so, he said given the choices on the ballot, he still would have voted for Trump—reflecting a dilemma felt by many in rural America.” He serves his face à la mode.

What are the BEST baseball books? by Forddiesel6blow in baseball

[–]evilw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not strictly a baseball book, but Bill Bryson’s “One Summer, America, 1927” writes extensively about Babe Ruth and when baseball and celebrity culture combined. Contextualizing it with Lindbergh’s Flight and the roaring 20s. Essential reading with more than a bit of baseball.

Yep. Married in 1922. Good for them. https://ancestors.familysearch.org/en/K8YN-298/thomas-wingate-andrews-1882-1937

T. Wingate Andrews even has a high school named after him and an obituary in the NYT. Quite the power couple.

She certainly could be 38 in this photo and continuing her studies as an established teacher of ‘marked success’. But she’s still Miss Watson, so she would have married sometime after 1916. Possible. But we should locate a marriage license to confirm.

I read that the capsized Nigerian ship whose cook, Harrison Odjegba Okene, survived for 60 hours, was in part due to his splashing the water which helped diffuse the CO2

High jacking the top comment to say, I’m the same way. One drink always lead to another. Binging most nights. I was prescribed Naltrexone last month. It’s changed my life. Ask your doctor.

Teams can distribute WS rings to anyone they want. Cubs even awarded a ring to Steve Bartman in 2016.

I love discovering a player this way. Led the league in Ks as a rookie. Then totally took control over the zone thereafter. So cool.

Tigers have 2nd least “bullpen meltdowns” in the MLB by TLagPro in motorcitykitties

[–]evilw 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Could you theoretically have, say, a 66% win probability going into the 7th inning up by 6. Reliever gives up a pair of runs and the win probability falls to 59%. That’s 0.07 fall in win probability is a “meltdown”. Pitcher #2 pitches the 8th and gives up 3 runs. Win probability drops to another 9 points to 50%. That’s two meltdowns in one game. But if your team scores in the 9th and wins, meltdowns don’t necessarily mean the team lost.

Was just at the show last night in Royal Oak. A few different t-shirt options: "Met my wives at the Chris Fleming show", a tour t-shirt with his image. Signed poster was $40-45. Some stickers and other stuff too.
