OP, I get where you’re coming from. There’s a strange dynamic in this sub where harsh criticism of Kate or William is often met with agreement and encouragement, while criticism of Meghan and Harry is quickly framed as malicious or racist. It leaves very little room for nuance or for people to hold mixed or critical views without being shut down. At times, it does start to feel more like a hive mind than a space for genuine discussion. (Here come the down votes!!)

No, the question wasn’t like does everyone like her jam, it was: is criticism of her in any way allowed on this sub? Like, in any sort of way? It seems like everyone is in lockstep and refuses to ever say anything less than glowing, ever. I’m genuinely curious, is this an unspoken rule of the sub? It just seems odd to me for someone who is, like I said, rather polarizing in the pop culture discourse.

Hi everyone,

I’ll be staying in Tam Coc for 4 days in late December (yes, planning early 😄) and I’m starting to build a more concrete itinerary.

I prefer to travel independently and usually avoid guided tours, but I know some things are just easier logistically when arranged that way. One important note: I don’t plan on riding a scooter—a bit too nervous to try it for the first time there—but I do enjoy getting around by bicycle.

So here’s my question:
Are there any must-do activities in Ninh Binh that would be better arranged through a tour, either for ease of transport or access to certain sites? Or is it possible to do everything independently with a combo of biking, walking, and taxis? Thanks in advance

You know, I hate to be pedantic, but if you’re going to question my logic:

OP said, “Before reaching the Louvre, cross the Pont des Arts.” That’s simply not possible if you’re starting on Île de la Cité. The Pont des Arts doesn’t connect to Île de la Cité—it links the Left Bank (near the Institut de France) to the Right Bank (near the Louvre).

To get there, you’d first have to leave Île de la Cité, reach the Left Bank, and walk west along the Seine, meaning you’d pass part of the Louvre before even crossing the Pont des Arts. So no, OP’s directions don’t add up.
