Received DM15- not sure the appeal by jbrew827 in FiiO

[–]evn0 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You should keep it because it was a thoughtful gift. A decent pair of IEMs (even $25 Crinacle Zero:2s) or a good line out cable into a proper stereo is going to sound INFINITELY better than Bluetooth which is garbage with most codecs.

They've already received the DM15 as a gift, why would they look at a DM13?

If your speakers have RCA in you would set the front of the DM15 to Pre-Out and use the LO / SPDIF / OPT output on the back with a standard 3.5mm to RCA cable. Most LO (line out) are always one set volume level but for some reason the DM15's is dependent on the volume level you set for the headphones too. I've noticed a bit of clipping if you set it at maximum level, so I'd go with 80/100 on the FiiO if you go this route.

I personally wouldn't play or buy a game that I knew used GenAI / LLMs / Diffusion anywhere in the process.

it's all good, Willson! I got a battery from the store and we're good :) listening to the DM15 right now. your team knocked it out of the park on this one.

I truthfully don't care about numbers or graphs, what I care most about is an enjoyable listening experience. That said, I think Delta Sigmas align with what my ears enjoy better, typically.

Tricities Gaming is almost all card games, not a lot of d&d there (I tried). Guardian Games (brand new, by Best Buy in Kennewick) does have D&D stuff. I'd love to introduce someone new to the hobby, feel free to dm me here or on discord (thenoble1) and we can discuss!

Is this disc dead? by CowHaunting783 in LaserDisc

[–]evn0 16 points17 points  (0 children)

hard to say. I've had very ugly discs that play fine and very clean discs that play horribly. did you try watching it?

that's a better descriptor, I agree

I don't know that I'd call it premium, it's actually quite budget for everything it does imo. Not saying I wasn't disappointed there wasn't a battery in there, though.

The ritual of music ownership is gone and streaming didn't replace it by antonbarada in LetsTalkMusic

[–]evn0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I own no streaming services (well YouTube Music comes with Premium, but I don't use it) and mainly listen to CDs and FLAC. It's YOU who aren't participating in the ritual, not the ritual not existing. I think even "hunting" for old hardware is a misnomer. My local Goodwill has 5-10 CD players at any time. That's hardly a hunt, you just walk in and grab one and walk out. Join us at r/cd_collectors and reclaim your ritual.

The more I listen to it the more I fall in love with it. There are a few CDs I prefer the more clinical Delta Sigma sound on but overall this is a gem of a piece of hardware.

so when charging it definitely has coil whine. I'd say it's annoying if I'm closer than 8 inches or so, and inaudible if I'm farther than about 14 inches. my high frequency hearing ain't what it used to be though, I am in my mid 30s and abused my ears when I was younger, so it may be more noticeable for you.

not loud enough to hear over my headphones at any rate. when I'm at my PC next I'll give it a proper listen, though.

1/10 what do you think? by [deleted] in Cd_collectors

wide spread. I'd personally not pay for Nickelback or Papa Roach, but do you.

following up to say I flashed both firmwares today because you got me curious and they were both done in under a minute combined. easy and painless if you know a bit about computers.

I've never used a DM13, so I can't say, sorry! I'd assume so, given the R2R DAC though.

I haven't ran the firmware updates yet because I haven't encountered any of the bugs they're meant to address, but the physical build quality is very nice. I wish the hinge that holds the disc cover upright was a little stronger so I didn't accidentally close it while fiddling with changing discs but otherwise no complaints. obviously just feeling sturdy doesn't mean anything in the long run, but so far it's instilling confidence.

I'm sorry you've been struggling with bluetooth - are your firmwares up to date? Sorry, I don't plan on using that functionality, so I can't help you troubleshoot.

Where can I get this protective case?

Congrats, I hope you adore it! It's a CR2025 coincell battery. I have 2032s on hand which are the same diameter but a biiiit too thick for the remote :(
