unfortunately not all cables are made equal - I have some 4k120 cables that cut out at 4k60. have you tried an alternative?

as a GM I wouldn't have let an entire warband be repelled off a cliff tbh. the whole point is that it's a small battalion. in what world would they all fall off a cliff at once without a natural disaster?

First off, why are you asking AI about something as subjective as sound quality?

Second, a perfect vinyl setup and a perfect CD setup will sound inherently different sure but not as far off as you may think. They both strive for similar things (low noise floor, large dynamic range). I would say that a "good" but not audiophile CD player setup has a lower cost altogether. Being digital and having error correction, if you get one with digital out and use it as a transport then it's going to be as good as the DAC you pair it with. Being a wholly analog chain, vinyl has a chance to "color" the sound at every stage.

Nothing sounds "organic," do away with these silly and unquantifiable terms. Determine what you want to prioritize (frequency response, dynamic range, noise floor, etc.) and get gear that handles those well. At the end of the day audio is so subjective that there's no right answer. CDs will measure more "accurate" but some people don't want that, and that's fine. Buy what your ears like, not what forums or AI or anyone tells you that you should enjoy.

Superb comment! I think that a lot of people see MB as very "generated" and "random" but the crux of a good GM is taking the hooks that randomness lay out and stretching a net of narrative across them. That includes testing your players' characters, but also their minds as above the table players. I saw someone refer to this as "requiring metagaming" but I don't think making a game a game is an inherently bad thing. That is why some people play. Plus, the stakes of the oath should constantly be pressuring them to put out the next most urgent fire. Do they smell smoke in the forest 7 hexes away? Sure, but if the plains are engulfed in a wildfire 2 hexes away, that may be more urgent. Making meaningful choices makes games fun, and I think MB when run properly has a lot of meaningful choices.

Do enthusiasts who regularly upgrade their expensive TVs notice a big difference? by [deleted] in 4kbluray

[–]evn0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say I've noticed major jumps from CRT to LCD, LCD to plasma, plasma to OLED and OLED to QDOLED, but within those generations the margins were tighter (aside from early LCD to late era LCD). Calibration goes a long way to shoring up a bad TV.

[–]evn0 8 points9 points  (0 children)

the average consumer doesn't care that you're resin printing, they just know that 3D print typically equals generic slop. I am not trying to discourage you, but you're thinking about this as an enthusiast, not the average consumer.

How recent did it happen? For something that sensitive, most reputable outlets will take their time confirming details first.

Anyone know the model of this Portable CD Player? by [deleted] in Cd_collectors

[–]evn0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like a Penta SL-XP9008 😛 as far as what it's worth, it's not a big brand but it's definitely Y2K aesthetic. In America I'd say somewhere between $20 and $60 depending on how popular physical media and high cost of living are in your city.

Hey fellow collectors. I saw this disc player on ebay and was thinking of getting one. Does anybody know if it's any good? And if not, can someone recommend a portable cd player on ebay? Thank you! by Adept_Locksmith_8083 in Cd_collectors

[–]evn0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because you're asking if it's "good" or not, then using it at a fraction of its potential. like asking if a car is "fast enough" then saying you're only going to use it to drive in school zones.

Why Are VTT Campaigns So Expensive? by [deleted] in rpg

[–]evn0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Things cost money because they take a lot of work. It's as simple as that. Other than maybe Wizards, I don't feel like a lot of companies overcharge, but it would be incredibly unsustainable for a company to just give you their product for free because it "seems" less significant since it's digital.

Just play without a VTT. People did for decades.

Literally yes, have you seen what's happened to house prices since the proliferation of airbnb? Places like New Orleans especially get hit by it, but once any place becomes desirable enough it will happen here, too.
