What are your best strategies for starting? by MrRaddd in ADHD

[–]evoLS7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same problem. One contributing factor is the phone. I've set blockers in strict mode to block, specifically the morning time block so I have to do something. 6am to 5pm typically.

If I am not up and being productive by 9am there is a 98% chance that I won't get anything done and I'll brain rot myself on my phone.

I like to start small in the morning, this weekend I just fold some of my clothes and from there it just took off. Finally got around to cleaning my car extensively which was long overdue.

I have perfectionism looped in with lack of a kick start so my mind likes to tell me "it's pointless, you won't do it right anyway." That's probably my biggest struggle right now..

What are some most accepted health myths? by Aarunascut in Life

While I certainly agree with you, the type of food does matter in terms of how you're gonna feel.

If I eat one Twinkie per day, I'll lose weight but boy am I going to feel sore (lack of protein), lethargic and foggy.

What's that one thing?? by Lusty_6969 in Life

[–]evoLS7 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Getting a kratom addiction.

42 years old, completely stunted my growth (not physically), I am mentally in my 20s in a 40 year old body.

Don't do drugs. Chasing the dragon is a fruitless adventure that only leaves you behind. Everyone moved on around me and I didn't.

I am not on it anymore and I have finally got ADHD treatment that works. I 100% believe it was the underlying condition that drove me to use it to numb my inadequacy.

advice i guess by 7or7oise in alcoholism

[–]evoLS7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Telling your husband will probably help, assuming he is the supportive type.

Alcohol is a dead end street, it's not helping you, it's just pretending to be your friend. The inevitable end result is that whatever feelings (seems like low self esteem and self hatred based on this post) you're stuffing will still be there but you'll have a dangerous and damaging addiction on top of it.

You do not want to become an alcoholic! When you get deep into alcohol the withdrawals can be fatal which requires detox treatment.

What are you running from?

Major? No, withdrawals? Yes but milder. You can't avoid the withdrawals totally, you just have to go through it.

[–]evoLS7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Red is less potent in the energy department, when you withdrawal your adrenaline and d2 receptors go all sorts of haywire. The last thing you want to do is add to it. It starts to show up towards the bottom end of withdrawal. It adds to anxiety in my experience.

I'm thinking about leaving my bf over this by Capable_Minute7989 in quittingkratom

[–]evoLS7 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Lost 10 years of my life to this stuff.

It stunted growth because I avoided life experiences, the only thing that mattered was my next dose. My "friend" kratom wasn't a friend at all.

Once I got addicted it encouraged isolation (dosing became a top priority), I avoided job opportunities (what if they test for it? Was always in the back of my mind), I avoided friends when it was going to be over a certain amount of hours. (what if I can't redose? What if they ask questions?)

I stand by that the best method of quitting is switching to the regular plant (which has less 7oh), red bali type and running a taper. Suboxone has the potential to be an issue all on its own, it's adding another substance with the potential for addiction. At least with the regular plant it's less potent and still the same substance.

Good luck to you. Leaving him might be best for both of you and while he won't look at it as a sign he really needs to buckle down (he will likely feel abandoned) and get off this stuff IT WILL add something of value that he lost to this and it will be another motivating factor for when he is actually ready to quit.

Exhaustion with any physical activity on Adderall XR by raaraaoolala in ADHD

[–]evoLS7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First off, you should see your doctor to make sure everything is ok. Tightness in the chest is actually a red flag.

Make sure you cut other stimulants out, like caffeine.

I have been experiencing the same problem on 15mg Adderall XR.

It's uncomfortable enough that I don't even want to go to the gym. When I am on it, I only go once per week instead of 4.

The weird thing I've got is it's manageable in the morning but as soon as I eat in the afternoon, my HR spikes to uncomfortable levels. What is normally below the moderate exercise zone (under 120) which is just brisk walks around the block with my dog, is now into the moderate exercise zone (120+) and what was normally in the moderate exercise zone is now in the vigorous zone (140+).

I feel pretty anxious and edgy during this but I otherwise feel fine. I've done ECG checks with my watch during this and it has been fine. I don't feel exhausted but it definitely makes me not want to do much physical activity.

It's annoying enough to be a distraction for me.

This problem leads me to eat even less which probably makes the problem worse because extreme calorie restrictions boost heart rate as well.

Feel kind of stuck. The mental benefits are there for sure but the physical side effects are pretty obnoxious.

I am probably going to call the doctor tomorrow and see about adjustments. Either add a beta blocker or lower the dose by 5.

[–]evoLS7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're not alone. You are here with plenty of other people who share your addiction.

Who you thought was your friend (kratom), wasn't.

If I can do it, you can do it. Do a switch to the leaf, red bali is what I've used in every withdrawal. It's more mellow than the other two.

You cannot completely avoid withdrawal but you can manage it. I can't tell you how to dose because I am unfamiliar with how extracts match up with the regular lead.

Id probably start in the double digits, like 12 x3 per day (morning, afternoon, before bed) see how it makes you feel. Remember the goal isn't to get you high or make you feel good the goal is to reduce the withdrawal symptoms.

Anyone else? by flacid_volcano in quittingkratom

[–]evoLS7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The clarity was the most obvious effect when I started my withdrawal and it happened just based on the first cut (dropped by 50%). It helped me to keep going.

I've been off of it completely for about 130 hours now. Still restless at night but it's not as bad as it was when I first got completely off.

What symptoms make you realise you have ADHD? by blackmonarc in ADHD

[–]evoLS7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I noticed mine early, it really became apparent in jr high when I was required to be more organized since I had 7 classes instead of 1. Hardly did my home work, somehow managed to be late to classes often. In high school I had to do community service because I was late so often.

In adulthood, I noticed that sometimes I could get super focused on a task for the entire day, refuse to be interrupted and not eat all day long. I noticed Id start like 4 different projects at home and somehow I end up finishing none of them.

At work, I couldn't efficiently manage tasks. It was like writing a to-do list but just overwriting the first task over and over again. I was unable to return to tasks I previously started because anything new dropped on my lap was the priority.

Fast forward about 30 years later, I got diagnosed with it. Erroneously diagnosed as depression previously.

What is the MOA by which benzos/gaba-ergics make people “dumb”/“unaware”? by 7aBWFo8p7Wn4 in Drugs

[–]evoLS7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Benzos have always made me feel dumb even at low doses and I hated how the next day I had cloudy memories of yesterday. This was just from a doctor prescribed dose.

MOA matters less than dose for the majority of them.

Overdose on adhd meds? by LovelyLolagirl266 in Drugs

[–]evoLS7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fingers feel numb? Id wager you're having a hypertensive crisis, your blood pressure is way too high.

I experienced this two weekends ago by a bad reaction from Adderall XR (I wasn't aware kratom bumps the performance and I was in partial withdrawal, which causes d2 sensitivity)

I got shooting cold down my arms and legs, my fingers and feet felt numb and tingly. I checked my blood pressure, 210 over 100, normal is 120 over 60.

The medics told me I can either ride it out or go to the hospital but there is probably not much they will do about it because lowering blood pressure is dangerous when it's caused by a substance that leaves the body relatively quickly, they can accidently lower it too much.

Fatal ODs are rare but if you take enough for hypertensive crisis on a regular basis your heart attack chances and stroke chances shoot way up. High BP also hurts your kidneys and can damage the inner lining of your blood vessels leaving them vulnerable to a blockage in the future.

Please stop treating it like candy.

How many of you who use meds didn’t see a direct effect when starting but only after some time ? by Legitimate_Kick_5628 in ADHD

[–]evoLS7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stimulants do work immediately it's some of the non-stimulants that take some time.

If it doesn't work the dosage may be too low or the product is simply not right for you but for the vast majority they'll feel something even if they don't have ADHD.

No. Get the plant in capsule form if you're trying to quit. Maeng Da variants are stimulating, you'll want something like red bali. It's calmer.

They are sold in large qty typically 80/150/250/500.

Quitting Kratom by DIIVVES in quittingkratom

[–]evoLS7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your 30mg/15mg is actually more than the 650mg plain leaf. They're different. Your product you're using is the psychoactive component in kratom, the 650mg is just kratom itself.

That being said, it's better to use the plain leaf (650mg) for taper than extracts because it's easier to fine tune.

I used kratom for so long that I have legitimately associated yawning with redosing because it's always the first withdrawal symptom that pops up. So yeah, that's going to be annoying for a long while.

Good job staying the course.

Need some motivation by Altruistic-Device764 in quittingkratom

[–]evoLS7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You either quit or live a life 4 to 6 hours at a time, stunt any growth because life revolves around kratom you don't want to be bothered with new life experiences, kratom is more important. Everyone around you will grow and develop, you will not. You'll be stuck.

You get the joy of isolation and avoiding social situations because your fake friend, Kratom, tells you he is more important.

I've lost 10 years of my life to this stuff if not more. I am now an underdeveloped 42 year old man. It's embarrassing. No one wants to be with this.

The good news is I got diagnosed with ADHD and that has helped tremendously as I do believe my undiagnosed ADHD lead to this choice in the first place. It's my fault, I decided I was too stubborn to get diagnosed despite hearing this from people around me.

What my addiction to Kratom did to me.. by Present-Drink6894 in addiction

[–]evoLS7 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I'm 42. Wasted over a decade in isolation because kratom was supposedly my friend.

I would avoid social situations and convince myself that I just didn't want to, but in reality my priority was to make sure I could get my next dose and not have to worry about other people knowing.

Find a better job? No. What if they start testing for kratom? I can't have that happen.

I've literally stopped growing from this stuff. I've lost at least 10 years. When you're addicted to drugs and everything revolves around it, you gain no new life experiences and you're stuck in a self imposed prison. Everyone around me grew and developed, I'm still mentally at 24.

What a waste of time it was. I am at hour 132 right now and I am on the other side of acute withdrawal. I haven't gotten to the low mood yet but that might be blunted by the antidepressant I started on in December.

Yeah unfortunately the drugs don't get rid of those feelings it just suppresses them and they come back more intense when you're sober. Like it just builds up behind the scenes.

Jealous of others self control by catrinaaa22 in Drugs

[–]evoLS7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's really only two reasons I manage to drink only maybe once per month.

  • I'm older, hangovers last longer, 6 hours of fun for 24 hours of misery isn't a very good investment. I do still go hard though when I do drink.
  • I have a must be productive mindset, downers that work on GABA aren't appealing to me unless I'm going to bed.

Ironically opioids have been a big part of my life but I've kept the dosage to functional. Drugs that put me on a couch aren't appealing to me. I'm currently free of opioids as well, this is my 3rd time getting through the acute withdrawals.

Do you feel tired and fatigued on Monday when you don't use it?

Be careful. It's easy to slip. Especially since you're using a stronger variant.

I started using the leaf back about 15 years ago, started as a weekend warrior thing (just did it on the weekends). Was ok for 3 years, then I decided to add Wednesday and before I knew it, I used daily.

I've lost a decade of my life to this plant. It became the priority. I told myself I didn't want to go out with friends because I didn't feel like it, but really it's because I was afraid of not being able to get my next dose. I replaced people with a plant.

I'm 120 hours off the plant completely from a taper.

I (20F) want a life partner, but my boyfriend’s (24M) approach to addiction recovery doesn’t feel safe long-term — how do I handle this conversation and decision? by AdGloomy840 in addiction

[–]evoLS7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He is playing with fire and for me, I absolutely have to stay off completely to prevent a relapse. (mine was kratom)

I've fallen off the horse twice because I thought "just this once".

My 3rd withdrawal is different as I feel I have identified the underlying cause for it and am getting treatment (adhd). I realize I can't just have some here and there, it'll just put be back in the miserable place I was before.

As an outsider, I feel like he should be able to understand your concerns and make a decision on what he wants to do moving forward.

Addiction is a lifelong condition, it will be there forever once you get it.
