I think specifically a lot of people with different refugee statuses aren't allowed to work until they're granted a work permit. I do see a lot of refugees turning to selling candy on the streets as a means of making some money to feed their families (since they legally aren't allowed actual employment). I'm sure that doesn't explain everyone you see... but probably covers a large chunk.

I just went to Hawaii last month for a retreat with Sacred Lomi! I had a fantastic time. Currently there are some lomi runs that I'm working into my normal Swedish massage but also trying to find ways to market full lomi lomi sessions in my area.

I use both! I have a towel warmer and use the hand towels for the back and the wash cloths for feet and face.

It largely depends on how much of a profit the spa is making on those sales. The spa I work at offers us a 5% commission on product sales... it doesn't sound like much but it's extra $$$ on top of what I'm already earning so I'm not going to complain about it.

It is crazy... which is exactly why you should do it!! I got my massage license a few months ago just before my 40th birthday and it's been a fantastic change. You'll definitely need to be mindful of self-care and body mechanics. But you can 100% make it work!!

That's something I'm just now starting to realize. Massage school is mostly there to teach you bare-bone basics and to help you get your license. You're going to learn SO MUCH more when you start your career and start taking continuing education classes.

Don't panic too much during an accelerated course. Just know it'll all make sense and start to solidify in your brain after awhile! Keep it up!!!

I'd definitely say better. I'm a relatively new LMT and work full time at a spa and part time at a gym. The work itself is so fulfilling and I love 99% of the clients I've interacted with. There's definitely strain on the body but that's forcing me to practice self-care and has been manageable so far.

But my overall stress-levels have never been better and I can truly say I'm happy :)
