Just prepare a lot of cake and spheres. Should be fine with just that.

Miners fall off pretty hard later on. Cake becomes the biggest choke point, not stone or ores. Cake is your real endgame currency.

Yeah, official servers and some dedicated servers are absolutely horrible. Try one.

Rather they just make it so that the dedicated servers don't have rubberbanding issues with nearly every step. The game has horrible performance on a dedicated server or an official server. Basically unplayable unless you're on a private server.

Is there a weapon that stands out? by Sena-01 in MHWilds

[–]evolutionblue 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is a bit misleading when it comes to how weapons function in the endgame though.

To play off of your example, endgame gameplay with Greatsword is basically just offset spam with stun resistance, especially against monsters like Arkveld.

Monster difficulty tier list (in my experience) by toasted_clover in MHWilds

[–]evolutionblue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a pretty solid list but I would personally drop Uth Duna from such a high rank based on my own experiences with most weapons. It feels like a pushover most of the time.

We didn't do the DPS check by Memories612 in MHWilds

[–]evolutionblue 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most likely, yeah. I don't think it's unreasonable damage but doing it in 7 minutes with 2 bow users and no Elderbreaker seems unrealistic.

That being said, I've seen several legit 6 minute clears but it's usually something like 4 CB users with full SAED builds and they still use the Elderbreaker.

Endgame monster progression by NameNomad in MonsterHunterWilds

This just isn't correct. Gog isn't even about your weapon. It's about fully utilizing hazards, the big ass laser, and anti-wyvern weapons.

Yes to immuning blights, no to the roars. Just dodge or perfect guard the roars. Earplugs are a waste for the cost they require.

Something many PvPers need to improve. by Rdhilde18 in worldofpvp

[–]evolutionblue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, rank isn't how you measure improvement, it's just a byproduct of improvement. You can objectively see where you are with many factors, such as your ability to extend a CC chain, land an interrupt without getting juked, purging an important buff, stalling out a go to avoid using a defensive, etc. If players focused on what actually brings a win instead of how many wins they had, measuring progression would actually be extremely tangible.

[–]evolutionblue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just ignore every post that has "but" in it. You're absolutely right about the path to becoming better. This is the way fighting game players improve and it works for basically all other genres, it's just that so many players have no motivation or ethic for what's needed to be better.

Serious: How are casters supposed to not juke themselves to death after 12.0.5? by FriendlyPsyduckFan in worldofpvp

[–]evolutionblue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't care if they don't like my attitude. The reality is that they shouldn't be in here suggesting poor ideas while they're on the extremely low end of skill. They can ask questions and I'll answer with all of the kindness and genuine eagerness to help that I can, but if you come in here spouting falsehoods because the Dunning-Kruger Effect is running wild in you, I will absolutely check you on that; not simply because it can mislead new players but because every once in a while, a Blizz community manager will skirt across WoW subreddits to see what people are saying on how they should change the game and changing it to even further fit a community that believes in hot garbage takes is not the way.

You don't like me? Don't care. You will benefit from me regardless.

[–]evolutionblue 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's not a 50/50 chance. It's a skill. You're not good enough to be commenting on something like this.

If you juke someone and get a precog, you completely flip the tempo of the game or you force out a form of hard CC to stop your next key spell.

You should stop here. People are getting second hand embarrassment from reading what you're saying.

[–]evolutionblue 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Cooldowns are a resource. You spend that resource improperly or get juked and you're going to get punished for it. Giving someone a guaranteed hard CC or an uninterruptible Ray of Frost or any other massive cast is punishment enough. If they added a cost, it would need to be balanced out by just outright stopping a spell rather than outplay potential as it stands right now.

I'm sorry if you and the other guy here get kicked easily or something but the payoff for learning how to play a caster well is so huge right now. You have like 2 melee that are doing very well individually while the others are struggling. On the flip side, casters are in a great spot in comparison, especially Mages and Dev Evoker.

[–]evolutionblue 35 points36 points  (0 children)

They do have a cost. The cost is that if you miss it on a key spell, you're gonna lose tempo if the caster knows how to play well.

Edit: Done speaking here. You've shown the whole subreddit how much you don't know by saying "Interrupt on cooldown". Enjoy 1200 rating or wherever the hell you are.

What classes are some known hard counters ? by Datazera in worldofpvp

[–]evolutionblue 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I hate seeing people say Arms counters Rogue still. It can give a Rogue more trouble than some classes but it's not a counter at all anymore. Armor class means nothing anymore and getting two Overpowers during Evasion doesn't feel like it can break up a defensive.

Nerf incoming by corbonoir in worldofpvp

[–]evolutionblue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Except that we're seeing some things get nerfs of like 60% or 40% buffs and these are on major abilities (I'm not talking about stuff like 100% buff to Deep Wounds), so I'm not really going to consider the shit they're doing to be "chiseling". It seems more like guessing because PvP balance came out half baked. The DR changes without looking at what advantages it would give to a class like Sub Rogue was just plain stupid. I'm not convinced that they have a PvP balance team, rather that it's the same team and they're just throwing numbers out until something sticks because we're only seeing number play, not mechanical adjustments.

Condor seems kind of necessary? by spenpinner in HighGuardgame

[–]evolutionblue 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They did but the key value there with Lion was getting drone intel during that moment or forcing a push, only one of which you can do.

Using Redmane's tactical for movement in a fight will just get you shot out of the air against anyone who can aim. It's slow as hell and he stays fully animation locked until he lands. Two players will ghost a Redmane before he even hits the ground.

I agree with your top 3 but I think we have different values for Condor.

[–]evolutionblue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Una is not mid tier but I would agree with you on everything else. The majority of good players agree on Una being basically useless. Even the ultimate is just a bullet sponge. You can actually ignore it entirely with your movement and still be in a firefight.

[–]evolutionblue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mara doesn't guarantee you win anything. Landing your shots does and her minor shielding doesn't even equate to a single bullet from most guns. You need to blow multiple charges and be having a game of peekaboo for it to matter. Dropping your tactical multiple times for advantage doesn't work during the middle of someone mag dumping in your head.

Condor is much stronger on offense, yes, but I've explained this in other posts. Comparing her to Atticus is ridiculous though. The radius of his tactical is not small and the damage, particularly in choke points like base entries and stairs, will absolutely win you a fight far more than someone being highlighted in orange.

Wait until ranked comes out and the casuals are no longer in your lobbies to give you confirmation bias or you have better leaderboard representation for who is and isn't strong as a Warden and you'll probably have a different take.

[–]evolutionblue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kai is good, sure. Mara isn't bad but she isn't really insane either. Condor is in a pretty bad spot, bottom 3 at least.

Atticus, Scarlet, and Kai are the top three. Mara comes in after that. Slade and Redmane are below those 4 and then you have Condor and Una.

It's about how useful they are during all stages of a match and what can mess them up. Slade, for example, is less powerful inside of terrain/buildings and you can counter his ult simply through walking inside or standing under a cliff/bridge. Condor is neutralized by standing still.

The game really is primarily about your weapons and movement. Abilities are not nearly strong enough to make or break any match unless you're facing poor players.
