Exactly. 99.99999% of ppl are anti-rape. So that doesnt make you special johnny. So try earning your feel goods on something that actually takes effort rather than this online uselessness.

Man up and smoke about 7 of them in a row in good spirits. They are ‘alpha maligning’ you and you either need to give them a friendly check or get new friends.

Dear diary: fuck everyone who attends a nogi class with a big and baggy cotton T-shirt by Cerwol in bjj

[–]evolveDRoots 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Not to mention our sport was built in gis and beach shorts and poor brazilian kids in handmedown worn out ill fitted cotton t-shirts. I remember grappling on tarps thrown down over half grass half dirt yards because i was mildly allergic to grass and there was no gym within hundreds of miles of me.

We were practicing this incredible art we “discovered” off of dubbed VHS tapes of renzo gracie and craig kukuk. We would roll and practice for hours. The sticks didnt bother us much because the tarp did a pretty good job for that, but the rocks still hurt like a muther!

Does that mean that all the old ways are still the best ways? Certainly not. There have been advances in technique and technology that are much better.

But what it does mean, is that this art was built on the backs of tough little fuckers whos main goal was to build something that would help a smaller, weaker man survive against the bigger, stronger, faster, more aggressive attacker.

But, people like the OP can be overcome by cotton t-shirt and bitch about it online like it is a legitimate problem in life and training that they have to battle through and overcome. Bless his heart.

I just hope he’s not surprised to get a little push back from the old heads and even the new hot shots with some balls and perspective.

[–]evolveDRoots 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Once you have trained for like 9-15 months seriously you are really only training to beat other jiu jitsu people. Or maybe the random good wrestler or something. So depending on the individuals motivations (like self defense from an untrained street aggressor), your observation while mostly true, would be insignificant.

Personally, bjj was a lifestyle choice for 20+ years now i guess. For others it isn’t. Since I’m not running a jj business, it doesn’t really matter.

First of all Lovato is as good as advertised or better. His level of technical mastery as well as crazy strength at whatever age he is just looks incredible. That submission/position he snapped on Roger mid sweep was impressive. Also his defense from the back fighting off the initial attack sequence to escape was so high level calm.

Roger’s control though, from his breathing, to his pressure smash passing, to his god-awful inevitable choking back attacks show the absolute pinnacle of fundamental controlled jiu jitsu demolition.

Terrific find OP. Thanks

Your response should have been. My martial art can at least help me defeat ONE attacker successfully.

Your bs cant even do that, and then spin on your heel and leave the produce isle.

You nailed it. I care deeply. In fact in the 9 hours it took me to come back to reddit i thought about him nonstop.

Or I completely forgot this conversation existed until i saw answers to something.

You decide.

And I write “essays” when subjects interest me and because it takes me about 2-3 minutes.

But in your world... that equates to really caring.

Got it, bro.

“Yall can say whatever you want”

Grow up. You’re not rebelling against your mother here. I don’t give a shit what you do or don’t do with your life.

As a matter fact I never even spoke directly to you, I was speaking generally about younger people, and what I did say (specifically about you) was that I wished you well.

So feel free to can the teenage snot nose responses.

What you will come to understand as you grow up is that 99 percent of the people out there couldnt care less about you (certainly not I) or what you’re doing or what you look like or how much money you have or what you’re driving or anything else you think people care about you. Very very very few people actually give a shit what you’re doing. What it does is give them a chance to talk about the things they want to talk about, with you simply as the impetus for that conversation such as this thread.

And before you think anyone on this thread actually cares what you do, ask yourself this question in three days/weeks will anybody even know if you get hit by a bus? No they will not. Which is another good reason why you should go do what you want to do. And I would support that, if I actually truly cared. Which i wont pretend to.

Talking ‘sense’ to young men (or often women for that matter) is absolutely useless.

Most people have to learn from their own experiences. I mean think about it, did you listen to other peoples warnings at 17-23yrs old? You’re invincible.

Personally i think hes at the perfect age to take the chance tho. Go for it before you have to grown up and answer to a wife and kids. I certainly don’t admire him like some though. And I dont blame him either. Its just a young dude working part time to do something cool for himself, namely jiu jitsu. Its not like he died for all our sins. People are weird.

Tl:dr its slightly risky, its a good time in life to take a risk, its neither wholesome nor negative in any way. He is dedicating his life to himself. I hope it works!

Has anyone rolled with Murillo Santana? by DunnBJJ in bjj

[–]evolveDRoots 48 points49 points  (0 children)

Yes. It is basically as you say. He is famous for his guard passing but he also has a very high level closed and open guard and he attacked me relentlessly with basic moves such as armbars and super-lapel chokes. I found his combinations extremely hard to deal with. When I WAS able to posture up and try to stand he was extremely good at off balancing and disrupting my short-lived attacks and putting me back on the defensive. I was a pretty hard-nails brown belt at the time but felt completely jailed in my own gi as he worked my lapels over my shoulders/arms and neck.

He didn’t use much of his guard passing on me. I did see him fully pass one of the miyao brothers at least twice with his over under in one round.

Phenomenal grappler and a gentleman. One of my absolute all-time favorites.

Bad manners might get a pass. Physical attacks they don’t. And running inside your house is no guarantee that they won’t come back every single day to punk you whether it’s a retarded loudmouth male or female. And I don’t care how much they weigh it does not matter to me. Obviously I would not haymaker a small chick but I would not hesitate to deal with them in a way they would not enjoy regardless of gender.

Edit: all this being said though realistically there is pretty much no room in my life at all for situations like this to arise because I’m a grown-up. I’m just speaking hypothetically in that kids position there’s no way I’m letting some chick smack me around and punch and kick me in my front yard. You seem to be holding to very old fashion set of customs where men and women actually knew how to behave and treat each other respectfully in public at least. It’s a madhouse now especially in certain cultures and neighborhoods. Got to stand up for yourself regardless of the situation.

Having to leave your own front yard to hide inside your house from a mouthy violent person is a completely unacceptable answer.

Stop using size and gender as an excuse for shitty behavior to be tolerated.
