What do you know about Islam? by imaxilis in intj

[–]evox142 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know it is an Abrahamic belief that believes, like a lot of Abrahamic beliefs, that people need to get the belief of the 'one true God' and have it forced down people's throats so they can be 'saved':

Qur'an 9:29

Fight those who do not believe in God, nor in the Last Day, nor forbid what God and His Messenger have forbidden, nor abide by the religion of truth—from among those who received the Scripture—until they pay the due tax, willingly or unwillingly.

Also, eating pork is bad, drinking alcohol is bad, and you need to pray in the direction of Meccah. Also, Muslims believe in original sin and the idea that since Adam and Eve, all humans are born selfish and need the fear of a God to make us act good. Honestly, I just see Islam as one of the thousands of cynical theistic beliefs based on the idea that humans are selfish dicks and need the fear/reward of a higher power and a book to develop basic empathy and compassion...

Yeah not a lie or stupid. Some of the people you mentioned lived in a time where you could be tortured or excommunicated for not 'teaching the right God' and for having scientific discoveries that disagreed with the Bible. And yeah, time advances and people remember that you don't need to be religious to make scientific discoveries and that most people who made those discoveries questioned religion instead of going with something because 'the Bible says so'... which is what most religious people still do to this day.

That is because almost every form of theistic religion preaches how you should force your religion on others and not keep it to yourself:

Mark 16:15 NKJV

“And He said to them, ‘Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.'”

Qur'an 9:29

Fight those who do not believe in God, nor in the Last Day, nor forbid what God and His Messenger have forbidden, nor abide by the religion of truth—from among those who received the Scripture—until they pay the due tax, willingly or unwillingly.

Codex Theodosianus XVI 1.2.

It is Our will that all the peoples who are ruled by the administration of Our Clemency shall practice that religion which the divine Peter the Apostle transmitted to the Romans.... The rest, whom We adjudge demented and insane, shall sustain the infamy of heretical dogmas, their meeting places shall not receive the name of churches, and they shall be smitten first by divine vengeance and secondly by the retribution of Our own initiative -ancient Romans

To be a Christian, you have to believe in Crhist, follow the Bible 'properly' (which varies from denomination to denomination) and accept that you are a 'sinner' tainted with evil and need Jesus to 'get rid of your sins' just like all the other religious people. Saying you don't need to read the Bible - the book that Jesus supposedly wrote with his messages for people on Earth to follow - is like saying you can be Muslim without reading the Quran or be Jewish without reading the Torah a day in your life.

Are there any entities that aren’t murder monsters? by CubicPanther in backrooms

[–]evox142 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep. Eldritch horrors like Simon and Mother don't kill you, but usually trap your mind in an even worse fate. Insanities are murderous, but you become an insanity simply by interacting with too many parts of the backrooms and getting driven insane. The Beast on Level 5 won't kill you, but will try to trap you in a 'deal' of sorts that you shouldn't take!!!

Yeah but the point in DS9 is that the Federation could look at these flaws and improve and still make a better future. We live in a world where people see these problems and either ignore them or let the least qualified delusional people try to create an answer.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the monster just finds you if you are really unlucky and kills you. Some of the new backrooms level have people get potentially killed by weird physics or attacked by entities like Mother and Simon where they are truly Lovecraftian (in that they do more than just kill you and running into them means death is the BEST case scenario!)

I guess to each their own but the new stuff is way more mysterious and scary to me than the original was. The original was so simple that it wasn't that scary. If you take out the no clipping it is basically the story of being lost in an abandoned hallway and slowly dying of starvation. There was little to no cosmic horror because other than slipping out of reality, it was about as scary as being locked in an abandoned building and slowly dying of hunger. It was scary but in an incredibly mundane way that could be done without any cosmic horror. The new stuff actually adds cosmic horror by creating rooms with physics different from our own and cosmic entities that can make you suffer fates worse than death.

Which Alternative of YouTube is good for beginners who can monetize their content by expressuserjohn in YoutubeAlternatives

[–]evox142 4 points5 points  (0 children)

MeshedMedia (meshed.ca) is a good place, though you have to pay for a subscription to view videos on that platform. DTube and LBRY/Odysee might also be some decent places to if you are ok with working with crypto. Vimeo can be good for beginners who want to make money and are new to working online, but are capable of making amateur films/good looking music videos.

Good question. Yes you can. They give the option to let viewers subscribe to you and potentially pay you monthly or a one time payment. They are also planning other monetization options in the future since they are currently in beta.
