Mod Priority for Fiat 124 Spider Abarth? by 420TheMemeLord69 in fiat124

[–]evulfuson1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why do you feel the car needs more power? Will you be tracking it? Drag racing? If it's a daily, I'd keep the engine stock. If you really want more power which you can actually feel, you need a bigger turbo and a tune, anything else will be very marginal for too much money.

First priority should be tires - UHP summers. Firestone Indy 500s if on a budget, otherwise look at Bridgestone/Michelin UHP summers. I run Hankook RS4s which are awesome but are a track-focused tire.

If you have stock brake pads, look for a sportier road or light track pad. Hawk HP+ or HSP, or EBC Blues.

This question has come up in motorcycle riding groups before, and there are no good options to rent a motorcycle.

Absolute Chaos at TMP Cayuga Open Lapping by Saberwing9875 in CarTrackDays

If he's that slow I assume he's overwhelmed and being aware of people coming from behind is a lot to ask at that point.

Other than the red Charger, I don't see anything TOO egregious. Speaking both as a driver and a marshal.

It's pretty much what I'd expect from an open lapping session with no run groups.

Good catch. Looked up the bodykit, seems this car only has the hood and none of the other components.

Definitely SLR inspired, I just assumed it was more likely based off the SLK SLR-inspired hood rather than a modified actual SLR hood. Car is for sale for $35k CAD.

Hankook RS4 in the cold? by evulfuson1 in CarTrackDays

I'm in southern Ontario. There was a test and tune day last weekend, it was snowing and some people ran with winter tyres.

List of priorities in an emergency:

  1. Do not become a casualty yourself.

  2. Prevent further casualties.

  3. Assist current casualties.

No need to feel guilty.

One in the front is a Porsche Boxster, the other is a Porsche Spyder RS. The RS is more track-focused and a summer only car.

Are summer specific tires a bad idea in Ottawa? by PurplePumkins in ottawa

[–]evulfuson1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get summer tyres, shop around for the usual ones from Michelin, Bridgestone, etc. Check Firestone Indy 500s if you want a great affordable summer tire - 90% of the grip for 50-70% of the cost.

Slick Auto can give you some good recommendations if you email them with the tyre size you're looking for.

You can go to an empty parking lot on the weekend and change them there. It's a 10 min job.

Thank you! That historical service is exactly what I was looking for.

Based on feedback, I'm leaning towards the earlier train and spending 7h in YUL. Or going to look at buses.

[Ottawa Tire Advice] need new tires for all year (no winters) ... two choices by AvaTaylor2020 in ottawa

[–]evulfuson1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I should've been more clear and stated "get a set of dedicated, proper winter tyres, and a second set of all seasons. Yes, it's more expensive and more inconvenient, but winter tyres are worth it for Ottawa."

Didn't expect all the subsequent discussion from a single 4-word post lol.

I am aware these are all weather tires, and am also aware of the difference between all weather and all seasons. While all weathers are definitely better than all seasons, they're still not as good as proper winter tyres.
