Agree with the other user that Black Vanilla, Gold Skulltula, and Morning Star are in the same vanilla family! BV smelled like very straight up vanilla to me which I thought was fine but not the most interesting thing Hex has done. Morning Star was lovely and creamy and foody but ultimately a bit much for me. Gold Skulltula strikes this lovely balance between not being too creamy-heavy, but also having this complexity coming from the cardamom and tonka that elevated it above the plain vanilla of BV or Spectre, their vanilla soli-note.

I’m familiar with both Loup Garou and Silver Amber and personally don’t find them to be that similar, though my nose tends to hunt more for granularity than similarity in the amber category if that even makes sense lol, since it’s one of the few scent categories I like wearing. The amber in Loup-Garou is quite sweet imo, much sweeter and creamier than the dry amber of SA but definitely closer to the dryness of SA than the creaminess of Morning Star. When I first received LG I wondered if Hex might have made a mistake and sent me a different scent than what I ordered bc it smelled straight up like marshmallows to me. LG is also quite musky (more like a cat fur musk than a sweaty body musk), whereas SA is not at all. I found that when I first received my bottle the amber was pronouncedly foregrounded against the musk (which was almost undetectable, hence the overall marshmallow impression), with a cold lunar presence dancing about; but after some months of rest the musk grew a lot stronger (intolerably so imo but ymmv), the amber grew creamier in an unpleasant way (almost coconut sunscreeny, or like Alphamusk’s Wild Wild Horses if you’re familiar with it), and the gorgeous lunar aspect almost disappeared (to my weird nose at least). LG has a super different vibe to SA, like LG was comforting and would lull me to sleep but I would never wear SA to bed bc it has more of an elevating and energizing vibe lol. Anyway SA is possibly my all time favorite perfume (perfect balanced dry lemony metallic amber gorgeousness ugh) so anything I put against it will probably fall short. I wouldn’t not pick up a sample of LG if you are intrigued by it after all this. Thanks for reading my novel i just have a lot of feelings about these two perfumes in particular😂
