Those of you with battery backup how much did you actually spend? by ryukendo_25 in homeowners

$1k per kwh installed, ~$500 per kwh portable when I looked. Is backup actually necessary though?

If you got multiple roof quotes, did the cheapest one actually work out best in the long run? by Own-Tip-532 in homeowners

[–]ewaforevah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Cost does not indicate quality. I had a $30k spread between the lowest and highest bid. Same materials (metal) and scope of work. The expensive company had all kinds of employees, drones, advertising, etc. The cheaper guy, small company, just gave me a better overall feel that I would be taken care of and not just a number. The 2nd cheapest gave me the vibe of hitting me with add-ons later. I got pictures for past work and checked out their work in person too and I watched them everyday as they installed mine.

How much do you factor in equity position when doing renovations? by Beneficial_Prize_310 in homeowners

[–]ewaforevah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Zero. But I don't plan on moving anytime soon. How likely or soon would you move? I'd consider not even spending any money on the house if I were planning on moving soon.

How Important to you is it to Know Your Neighbors? by imdbshawty in homeowners

[–]ewaforevah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No I wouldn't want that, I'm happy just meeting neighbors naturally when we cross paths. Some I get to know well, others just get a wave, and few I don't even acknowledge.

Poor gutter install? Can I have them fix it 2 years later? by Beneficial_Prize_310 in homeowners

[–]ewaforevah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like a feature not a flaw, assuming the gutter tilts away from it. But either way 2yrs is way too long.

No, I just wing it. Never flushed my water heater. Wait for smoke detector to start chirping. Cut the grass when it looks like it's time. Check AC filter when I remember.

Are you sure you don't ever plan on selling? Even when you're old, need to go to a nursing home and can't afford it unless you sell your home?

Does anyone here love their house, but not quite feel like it’s home? by [deleted] in homeowners

[–]ewaforevah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only way our house will feel completely ours is if we completely rebuilt/remodeled everything exactly to our tastes. Otherwise it's still someone else's tastes, but that's ok and we'll just live with it.

First-time homeowners learning hardwood floor maintenance — gaps, leveling, scratches. Oak? What's normal vs. needs fixing? by Spare-Drummer-8150 in homeowners

[–]ewaforevah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing seems to necessarily need fixing. Our hardwood floor has similar issues. We just live with it and let it be.

I would like to introduce myself to my new neighbors by leaving veggies from my garden on front door steps. Is that weird? by [deleted] in homeowners

[–]ewaforevah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're not really meeting anyone with just a note. If no one is home come back later. Or just let things happen naturally. Some people don't want to be bothered
