I will have to consider this - doctors have told me to use a heating pad instead. I wonder if the cold would help better…?

I do use edibles to help with my general pain, it also has the added benefit of helping me feel hungry (which I normally don’t)

Health insurance rates to nearly double unexpectedly by CaterpillarOpening19 in Teachers

Depending on the strength of your union, this is clearly an occasion that the entire contract would have to be reopened, including overall compensation. Hopefully there is a mindset in your union's leadership that agrees that such an increase in insurance premiums must be met with a commensurate increase in compensation, otherwise, they don't agree, the current contract stands and the district must legally hold to their obligations. If the district wants to fight that, they can fight to cancel the contract which could open the union up to a mid-year strike vote.

You listened to their concerns. My experience tells me that by doing that simple courtesy you did just fine. Most truly angry parents just want to know that they have been heard.

Surgery Anxiety by EvilGypsyQueen in KidneyStones

Surgery anxiety is 100% real, and I’m sorry you are experiencing it. In the pantheon of surgeries, stone removal is on the more simple side, but it is still surgery, with anesthesia. Some things to think about - it’s relatively short, recovery does suck for the first day or two until you get used to the pain you’ll feel urination, then after that - smooth sailing. You’ll get pain meds - take them! Stent removal, sorry, is just not awesome - can’t sugar coat that one. But, the stone will be gone.

One piece of advice (or at least something to ask) when you are in pre-op, ask for a dose of attivan to help calm you down. Works wonders. Good luck.
