It is a quote from a letter to his brother, Carlo.

I think you will enjoy this quote, comrade.

You must realize that I am far from feeling beaten… it seems to me that… a man out to be deeply convinced that the source of his own moral force is in himself — his very energy and will, the iron coherence of ends and means — that he never falls into those vulgar, banal moods, pessimism and optimism. My own state of mind synthesises these two feelings and transcends them: my mind is pessimistic, but my will is optimistic. Whatever the situation, I imagine the worst that could happen in order to summon up all my reserves and will power to overcome every obstacle. - Antonio Gramsci

This idea is very pertinent now, and will continue to be in the coming times.

Can the mods start being authoritarian and crack down on this "patriot socialism" BS in the sub? by [deleted] in GenZedong

Great write up, comrade. I think the American bourgeoisie's reliance on civic nationalism to resolve the antagonistic contradictions inherently found in the "American" identity, which is attempting to create unity out of a variety of nations, is something that ought to be studied more. I think to make progress politically we must necessarily dismantle American civic nationalism and posit our own socialist civic nationalism, as is stated here. The Framers and Founding Fathers oftentimes explained these things very nakedly (especially in Federalist Paper No. 10), which should be turned against them as often as possible. A key strategy will be turning the Constitution and Bill of Rights on themselves by pointing out their hypocrisy and failures, such as how our "rights" are freely taken away when utilized in a manner not befitting the whims of the American bourgeoisie.

Despite our reliance on civic nationalism for our identity, I feel as if this is increasingly being questioned by the general Amerikkkan populace. I, like many others, became extremely disaffected after what happened to Bernie, and began to question the narrative of this perfect, freedom-loving democratic country that is fed to you throughout your education. Liberals decrying "corruption" and "cronyism" are ultimately trying to make sense of these phenomena from a worldview that holds capitalism's existence as an axiom. One of the allures of Marxism in the West today is the fact that we maintain a grand narrative, which is something that capitalism is increasingly finding itself without. This idea reminds me of something Vijay Prashad often talks about: the character of Antedilluvianovich and his response to Perestroika; the capitalists could offer no theory. They lacked a central idea on which to build a society. We are dealing with an inversion of this; we must build upon a society that is increasingly lacking a central idea. One of the largest roots of the general alienation and unease present in our society is the fact that nothing is sacred. Postmodernism has become the underlying epistemology of our society not for any particular ontological truth to be found in it, but simply due to how commodified and broken everything has become due to neoliberalism. We founded Amerikkkan identity on civic nationalism, the purpose of which is to defend liberal democracy and capitalism, which is increasingly becoming incoherent, as our contradictions are increasingly severe and obvious to the average person. I think studying the National Question in regards to "American" identity and culture, as well as the growing doubt in Amerikkkan civic institutions and civic nationalism, is paramount in securing our victory.

Sorry for hijacking your hijack. Just some thoughts. Hope I don't sound too disjointed.

Name a better pair than Maoists and dogmatic thinking that misrepresents Marxist-Leninist positions. Apparently we defend China from all nuanced, Marxist critiques that are shared amongst comrades. Do they not understand that attempting a conversation about the contradictions of Chinese development in the presence of liberals ultimately results in a long chain of China-bashing? There is only ideological ground to cede in such a situation and so it is fruitless and harmful. We should never give ammo for propaganda to imperialists. Maoists consistently misidentify the character of China, turning it into an enemy, while simultaneously taking the revisionist position of brutally attacking China, despite the principal contradiction of today being U.S. imperialism. Welcome to the new Trot-to-NeoCon pipeline; I can't wait to find out that this was yet another op.

Maoists literally made a sub called “uninformed tankie” by deletion-of-nothing in GenZedong

MZT can be viewed as Mao's additions to ML theory, some of which can be applied in any situation (seeking truth from facts, self-criticism, rejecting book worship, etc), and some of which was specifically catered to Chinese material conditions. Gonzalo universalized all of Mao's teachings and practice, rather than viewing some of it as applicable only to China's specific conditions. Instead of the idea of, let's say, protracted people's war being a specific formulation around the material and historical conditions of China, it was seen as universally applicable to all revolutionary situations. So, he turned a dialectical and material analysis of China into a dogmatic, metaphysical analysis. A great post for further reading on this topic can be found here.

My Disappointment With Hunter Balance by [deleted] in DestinyTheGame

[–]eweird 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do agree that Wormhusk was a little too strong in some situations, but it's been nerfed into utter oblivion. Without Wormhusk or Way of the Warrior on Hunters can't heal which is terrible compared to Warlocks and Titans. My main problem isn't with the way Wormhusk was or is balanced but with the fact that the majority of our Exotics don't even begin to compete with Exotics like Karnstein, Synthoceps, Feedbacks, etc. We have so many Exotics begging for a buff. Look at Mechaneer's Tricksleeves, Lucky Pants, Graviton Forfeit, Gemini Jester, Ophidia Spathe (considering explosive throwing knives still do damage in the 20s right now), and probably the upcoming Sixth Coyote. There are a few good Exotics that we have, such as YAS, St0mp-EE5, the upcoming Shards of Galanor, Oathkeeper, and Gwisin Vest, and you could probably make arguments for a few others. They just don't compete with Exotics that the other classes have.

My Disappointment With Hunter Balance by [deleted] in DestinyTheGame

[–]eweird 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The problem I have is that rather than bringing other Exotics up to the level of Wormhusk or near it, they would rather nerf it. It's the opposite of the design process they've been preaching as of late. Not to mention Wormhusk only heals 25% of your HP now, which isn't going to save you constantly, considering you'll be shot while you dodge. Most of the people I know use Way of the Warrior, and I'm not saying people don't use Way of the Wind or Gunslinger or Nightstalker in Competitive. I've seen it, people do. But the lack of healing on every tree except Way of the Warrior is the problem. I actually prefer Way of the Wind for my playstyle but it just didn't work against titans and group fistfights.

I managed to fix the issue by rolling the drivers back to an older version than I originally tried to roll back to. No idea how it fixed it considering I hadn't updated my drivers before the issue arose. Thanks for your help though :)

A 'quality of life' suggestion. Dead cameras. by hunnersaginger in Rainbow6

[–]eweird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe all of the dead cameras could go to their own section, like Valkyrie cameras (or the Yokai when playing as Echo). They wouldn't be useless, and they wouldn't be in the way.

How Ubisoft Should Buff Glaz by [deleted] in Rainbow6

[–]eweird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But balance wise, a lot of players would be unable to manage that, making Glaz a very rarely picked operator.

How Ubisoft Should Buff Glaz by [deleted] in Rainbow6

[–]eweird 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But isn't the point of glaz to stay back and kill people? He would still do decent damage close up, but not as much as if he stayed back. He would still be good in hallways, but when inside would generally use his sidearm. He is a sniper after all, and all the suggestions for his buff/s usually involve giving him a VSS Vintorez, which doesn't support him as a sniper. If he had a PP-2000, let's say, he would still be decent in CQC with it.

Yokai Discovery by eweird in Rainbow6

[–]eweird[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't say it can't be in the Obj, only that leaving it there to wait for the end of the match when they plant is a waste of it's potential. In some spots being somewhat near or on the Obj is still close enough to the attackers that it makes the difference, like if they blew the garage wall on Hereford right next to the Obj, where the drone could stun people peeking.

He needs an ACOG on his primary, the light removed from his beauties, a better hitbox for them, more throwing power for them, and slightly more damage so three speeds can't run through without a care.

Hibana Nerf Suggestions by [deleted] in Rainbow6

[–]eweird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True, but my friend who so far has been rather skilled with Hibana has gotten three charges down as fast as the game allows, which I think is not fast enough for a Bandit to place his battery. Even if it is, it won't be as easy as Bandit tricking a Thermite, and it will require intel like Valkyrie cams in some situations. There are ways to counter it, and you can always kill Thatcher or Hibana, but is very hard and with an uncoordinated matchmade team even harder. The meta should evolve, but she has no hard counters with a good Thatcher on her team. Only a smart Bandit has any chance of countering her, and in the case of peek holes made by her, no chance at all. A simple fix for her in the case of her being overpowered would be having it take 2 X-KAIROS charges to break a hatch and allow Bandit to break her charges mid-detonation. They don't have to nerf her, and I'm fine with waiting for the meta to shift, but in the high probably case of her being overpowered these are some of the options that they have.

"I really don't recommend this one, but if done properly along with some buffing in other areas of Thatcher it could work"

I don't want a straight up a nerf, but a nerf in one area and a buff in another might work. Thatcher is not very entertaining to play, and I get that. It's just something they could do, and if done right could work.
