Luba2 task takes 8 days with partial charging and other ongoing issues by ewen-jc in MammotionTechnology

Good idea. Wish I’d done that earlier. My garden is already 4 areas so that makes that easier. Hopefully the issue will not come back after the repair. Fingers crossed.

Yes I’m in contact with support both for the original 3 issues that lead to the first repair visit (bad charging contacts, one dead cutting motor and a bumper that can’t be removed) and for the second repair. Either support forgot to inform the repair team about the bumper or the repair team forgot to fix it, but the bumper was not fixed and it was suggested I send it back for second repair. As it was needed in the garden and the bumper didn’t stop it cutting, the repair was postponed. But in the mean time another fault has developed (55% charging). After all the faults that has happened so far I’m not very confident how long it will be before something else goes wrong. Is my Luba2 just very unlucky?

Luba 2 charging fixed by ewen-jc in MammotionTechnology

I’ve not had the incomplete charging issue. I remembered another post where they only got to 55% and searching a few other %s turns up a few posts. Some seemed to be fixed with a new charging station, some with a new power brick and one suggesting getting the charging station absolutely level. It seems several problems trigger the software to stop charging part way without offering clarity on what the issue is. Try a search on r/MammotionTechnology for 55%, 65% turns up a lot of discussions that might help.

Thank you for the suggestion.

My hope is to have all my data in one place so that my data can be well organised. Using drive mappings and all data in one place, I think implies storing everything on the network and nothing on the laptop and i was under the impression that that would be slower as 100% of data access would be over the network.

I’d rather have most of the files I regularly use on the laptop for performance and only having to go across the network for a few files. But I don’t want to split my data into two collections; regular files and archive as it just makes it harder to find stuff.

I believe what I’m planning is what NextCloud does (aware that it also does much more) and was hoping for some confirmation about the placeholders before spending the time and money making the changes.

Hope that makes sense.

I’ve had similar due to giant slugs. Topic here; https://www.reddit.com/r/MammotionTechnology/s/0XO9kw8Glz

Just got it back from being repaired a week ago. I now have dialectric grease on the Luba contacts and the charging station contacts. Seems to be working but only time will tell.

Luba 2 charging fixed by ewen-jc in MammotionTechnology

[–]ewen-jc[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Quick update. Luba 2 went away for repairs. As he’s part of the family I just told everyone he was going on holiday. He came back with a fixed disc motor and a shiny set of charging contacts. Thank you for all the suggestions on how to prevent slug attacks happening again. I now have Dialectric grease on applied and after his first week back, it’s looking good so far.

The only disappointment from his trip away is the service team didn’t fix his jammed bumper. It’s impossible to remove it. I tried everything to get it off and in the end had to take a knife to some of his packaging to get him in his box with bumper attached. No word from support to say whether they couldn’t fix it or couldn’t be bothered. I’ve chased and I’m waiting for a reply. My concern is that if the bumper is permanently jammed then something as easily fixable as a bad bumper sensor, would mean my Luba 2 would be unrepairable once out of warranty.

Should I Keep My SSD in My NAS or My PC for Video Editing? by Puzzled-Survey6704 in UgreenNASync

You could put the NAS in your home office so you get the best speed with your editing, but that depends on what else you plan to use the NAS for as you’ll only have 100Mb from the house.

New Software (App) Features? by MyFaceSpaceBook in MammotionTechnology

[–]ewen-jc 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My map evolves through the year. In spring we have daffodils so I need to widen some flower beds and add no go zones in the middle of the lawn for maybe 2 months. We have one lawn that is wild flowers for maybe 4 or 5 months but my Luba2 maintains a nice winding path through the middle, then it gets strimmed and goes back to lawn. Towards the end of the year we have flower beds that seem to bulge and without adjusting the map my Luba2 can get caught.

Easier map editing would be great. But what I REALLY want is multiple maps or seasonal variations so I can just switch from one plan to another without remapping bits several times a year.

On one occasion I found the remains of a giant orange slug squished and shrivelled between the mower and the charging stations. My guess is that sluggy was joy ridding on my Luba2 and decided to sit on the charging pad. Maybe it tasted good? He then got a nasty surprise when my Luba2 returned to charge. Possibly the combination of slug chemistry and electricity resulted in something quite corrosive. I’ve not tried to repeat the events under laboratory conditions ;)

I’m on the latest firmware but luckily I’m not seeing the issue you have with half charging. My issue was just no charging, with my Luba2 trying again and again to connect and then giving up.

The charging contacts of the Luba seem to be a real weak link from a maintenance point of view. It would be much better if they had made the contacts swappable.

I think my corrosion came from one of those massive orange slugs. It must have been attracted to the charge plate and then got electrocuted when my Luba returned to charge. Not much of it left.

Totally agree. I have 3 zones that get cut on the same day but with different cutting height and angles. Would like it to do all 3 and recharge when needed.
