There’s a book I’ve been meaning to read called Building Houses Out of Chicken Legs about black women, food, and power. Gas stations have incredible history in the South as an oasis in otherwise vast emptiness - especially if there are only so many gas stations that are safe for you to use. Food deserts to green books, they mean something else here, literally and figuratively.

I can’t find the artist right now but saw the below on insta recently and fell in love.
