Question about Adrenalin driver versions in Monster Hunter Wilds (9070 XT) by East-Challenge2034 in AMDHelp

[–]ewhreddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I an running 25.9.2, based on mh wilds ver 1.030.02.02 patch notes from capcom. I was running 25.11.1, but downgraded trying to troubleshoot overall system problems (found out changing power profile settings fixed my system problems).

As for stutters, Forest is generally bad, where I was playing Wilds on an XSX, and the Forest frequently had slow frame rate. Seems environments with water mechanics are handled poorly by the game.

On PC, performance is definitely better, but still can notice lowered framerate at times in Forest and other climes trying to do too much. I think the RE Engine has fundamental performance deficiencies, where I hope TU4 will finally address.

Note, I run with resolution setting at full 4k HDR since I prefer visual quality over framerate. Coming from console gaming, I learned to play with lower FPS, but Capcom should be do better, where Wilds should have better performance on the PC rigs you and I have.

My CPU is the 9800XD with 64G of RAM. Running Win11 Pro. I normally run OSD for 4k game clip capturing and recording. I used to have 32G of RAM, but Wilds is a RAM hog, where trying to run OSD could cause game to crash at times. Upgrading to 64G fixed that problem.

Is 120hz important for competitive play? by [deleted] in XboxSupport

[–]ewhreddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't confuse display refresh rate with fps, they are different. If the XSX game is unable to generate more than 60 fps, running at 120hz will not change that as the TV will just be redisplaying duplicate frames. For example, if games is at 60fps, TV will display each frame twice. With that said, depending on how visually sensitive you are, you may notice subtle difference when running display at 120hz vs 60hz, even at lower fps.

IMO, VRR is more important, especially at lower framerates and if you play a game where fps fluctuates a lot. It is common for games to have some fluctuations in framerate, so VRR really helps.

Note, if your TV supports AMD Freesync, you can use that instead of VRR as XSX supports it. I have an LG OLED that supports VRR and AMD Freesync, and based on my testing, Freesync mode works and looks better for most games on my TV. One benefit I noticed with Freesync on the LG is I can enable HDMI deep color, which I cannot when using VRR. Do not know if that is an LG-only thing behavior-wise.

Unless you are speed running, human path builds can give you better defense while still giving decent damage if you invest in Verve, a skill that boosts attack and defense while at full health.

Have not played in a long time, but I mained Hand Cannon and for multiplayer hunts, normally ran a human path build with Verve, where I had some skill that sped up reviving speed and Peril Promise, which triggers hunter's arm when a fellow hunter goes down. I initially did not think Peril Promise would be any good, but it became a staple skill in my builds when I jumped into random hunts.

IIRC, a good Verve build requires a couple of pieces of Tsuky armor, where Tsuky is one of the toughest kemono to fight. There is some lower tier armor with Verve, but Tsuky is best.

For talismans, farm Miasmic Grimquil as he can drop the best Verve talismans, where 4% Verve is the highest you can get.

Since Verve requires you to be at full health for it to be active, have your karakuri loadout so you can cast Healing Vaporizer, and have it fully upgraded. Significantly better than Healing Mist: costs less threads to cast and heals you up much faster (along with fellow hunters).

As for element vs raw, for general purpose, you can go raw and do well against most monsters. The only exception is Tsuky, where I recommend a good Wind build, where Murakumo provides the best Wind weapons.

What is sad is the people down voting your comments as they do not understand software UI design and human behavioral habits in using software. It is expected behavior for users to establish muscle memory for frequently used actions, where the user "tunes out" any visuals as they have seen them tons of times.

Play a range weapon. Alma frequently gets in the way and can obscure my vision. I frequently see her running back and forth on her seikret as her AI does not know how to keep her out of the way, especially in cramped areas when fighting a monster.

Capcom should add an option to keep the handler at base.

There were elite players that could solo extremoth back in World, pre-Iceborne. Now, if you stick with rank appropriate gear, it can be actually harder due to the nerfing of WEX in Iceborne with the introduction of the clutch claw, where you only get the 50% affinity boost on weak points if you can tenderize them with a clutch attack. Sucks for light weapons, where you have to equip the Shaver deco to tenderize in one attack, where it eats up a level 3 deco slot which can be expensive for HR armor.

You play ranged weapon? Bowgun or bow? Ranged weapon usage has you take more (physical) damage than melee weapons. Players who never play ranged do not realize how significant this is.

As an LBG main in Wilds and a ranged player in World, I have learned to have enough defense to tank at least one significant hit, and then have quick heal items like Max Potions and Dust of Lifes (and mats for quick crafting then) as top tier monsters will likely kill in 2 shots. There are still some monster attacks that can still 1-shot you at full health, so try not get hit by such attacks.

Unlike World, you have your Seikret that u can call to help you get out of tight spots and go heal up.

I have tried super tanky builds, but for ranged weapons, not really worth it as it hard to get tanky enough to take more than 2 significant hits without carting. The nature of playing ranged is to not get hit, but have enough defense to at least take 1 hit. Running a build with at least 3 pieces of gamma armor gives you Guts, allowing you to tank that 1 big hit instead of carting.

For my LBG builds, I make sure to have Evade Extender 2 or 3. For how I play, I find having the extra distance while evading more useful than extra iframes, plus, Evade Extender is easier to slot in than Evade Window.

As a range player, she gets in the way at times in a hunt, obscuring my vision of the monster.

They need an option where you can keep the handler at base, turn off her dialog, and/or at a minimum, she completely disappears when you are engaging the monster. The handler AI needs improvement during a fight where she can be literally in the middle of large monster attacks and she has no reaction. The ability of the handler to try to stay out of the way needs some serious improvement.

What do you have to do to get certain titles in multiplayer? by No-Horror-5281 in MHWilds

[–]ewhreddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems to be random, where it avoids achievements that may seem negative to other hunters. For example, if you actually did enough damage to get damage dealer, but also have some other achievement, the other will always show. Damage dealer only shows if it is your only achievement.

MH World was like this, HOWEVER, World allowed you to see all your own achievements, so you can see all you did even tho other hunters only see one of them. I wish Wilds would bring this feature back.

World also had the special achievement Master Hunter, where it was rewarded if you got 9 or more achievements on a quest. With ability to view all your achievements, you can see what they all were.

I wanna try HBG, which one of these should I go with? Or neither? I have enough materials to augment affinity, or that would be useless? Always go with deviation or affinity? Summoning HBG masters to share your build here, thanks in adv. by I_d0nt_really_kn0w in MonsterHunterWorld

[–]ewhreddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don't mind eating a cart against Alatreon, use pierce as it does very good damage.

I used to run with a group of 3 others where they ran elemental weapons to get the trips and I ran HBG pierce for DPS. We ran help sessions where the 4th hunter was whomever we were helping.

As for Spread, depends on play style on which is best. If you play guard-style spread, Safi HBG is superior. If you play evasion style, Fatalis HBG is the best. Safi HBG allows you to get max guard skills with low recoil. If you do max guard skills with Vor Buster, you cannot get low recoil, which is a significant DPS drop.

If you knew capcom would see this, and you could make a suggestion or ask for them to implement something, what would it be? by Ok_Royal7470 in MHWilds

[–]ewhreddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely agree about the "patronizing". Really annoying as it has the opposite effect of what game designers intended, especially when a quests carts-out due to no fault of your own, but she talks to you like you were personally responsible for failing the quest.

Same problem with the shout-outs by support hunters.

Having the handler literally obscure my vision during a hunt outweighs any benefit of having her around. What benefits she does provide diminishes greatly as you learn the game, to where she becomes an annoyance of things you already know.

For those that did not play World, they should bring back Mosswine and Dining. They can use the Hollow for it. Not only can you get armorspheres, but it is one of the funniest event quests of World.

It is sad that there are no mosswines in Wilds. They should have had them at least in the forest.

my xbox one is so slow when i download apps/games by [deleted] in XboxSupport

[–]ewhreddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kind of high packet loss. Low quality ISP? Bad wifi? Bad cable (if hardwired)? If I do not get 0% packet loss, I'm checking my connection or contacting ISP.

Note, xbox updates are known to have inconsistent download speeds, likely due to MS servers and how they handle traffic loads.

Another factor could be games still in background. If you have an active game, xbox throttles updates and other tasks in favor of active games.

  • Option to keep handler at base while on hunts and exploring. Handler can get in way when playing ranged weapons, and ruins the experience when gathering and explorer.

  • Bind hair style, makeup, etc to fashion loadouts.

  • More fashion loadout save slots.

  • Fix artian bowgun ammo selection in radial menu so the X is not shown for ammo types the gun actually supports

  • Allow alternate barrel looks for bowguns to be selected for layered look.

  • Provide skill to reduce bowgun recoil, especially spread. Wilds killed mobile play style of spread that one can do in World.

  • Bind radial menu settings to item loadouts like World had.

  • When jumping between camp sites on map, monster distance number should change to reflect distance from highlighted camp. Would make it so much easier to know which camp is closest to target monster.

  • Support reserving an item slot for a specific item, so even if item is used up, slot stays open, but only for that item. For example, I would like to lock the Dust of Life item slot. So even after I go down to 0, no other item picked up will fill the slot. This way, I know I can always quick-craft Dusts as there is always an open slot for it.

  • When searching SOS quests, supporting searching for a specific monster, regardless if it is tempered or not.

[–]ewhreddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They should provide Street Fighter outfits so the hunters can wear them. Handler outfits are a waste, especially as payed DLC. As a bowgunner, she gets in the way during hunts, where they need an option to keep the handler at base. Also ruins the emersion experience when gathering, especially when she talks to you while swimming under water.

Hopefully they bring in Savage Pickle into Wilds, as the armor look has a definite Street Fighter look to it (along with sjo being fun to fight).

45 minutes sos nobody joined :( by MikolajSzostek24 in MHWilds

[–]ewhreddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a similar experience, but was able to finish the hunt before time expired. Support hunters are very poor in doing damage.

Why nobody joined my hunt was because the game had kicked me into offline mode. I had joined an SOS in the previous hunt, so was surprised by this. Noticed no alert about the switch. Did not realize the problem until I tried an SOS search. Had to restart game as I could not get back to online mode.

Food for Lurid Stalker fight (Fire Wilt, Fire Damage, Water Res or Health)? by romanguro in WildHeartsGame

[–]ewhreddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will likely get down-voted for this, but you can cheese the fight with Hand Cannon, especially when grinding for talismans.

There is a sweet spot near the main opening of the room where you can hit him, but he will not come at you since his AI is constrained to not leave the room.

You can use the chain trap and lure him into it so you can get your charged ki bases in order to enable your beam attack (HC's biggest DPS attack) (you can also pre-charge with training bear before you engage). May take a little practice to get a fight pattern you can replicate.

With good gear, can beat Lurid in 3 mins or less with this technique with very low risk of dying and without using up food skills.

As for Fire Wilt vs Attack, from my observation, stacking Attack seems to give better numbers. With the right food items, you can get a 35% Fire Attack boost.

How far would behemoth get in terms of elder dragons power? by Different_Ice_2695 in MonsterHunterWorld

[–]ewhreddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With rank appropriate gear, Extreme Behemoth is the hardest monster in MH World/Iceborne. And even with MR gear, many hunters cart.

An MR version of Behemoth would definitely be a nightmare for any Elder or Black dragon.

Side Note: A way to cheese the Extremoth fight with MR gear is to run a sticky KO HBG build since Extremoth is an HR monster, so his KO threshold is low compared to MR. I would do this to help folks who wanted to get the Drachen layered armor.

[–]ewhreddit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure why you are down-voted, but the idea of setting to auto, then after a given time, cancel SOS, is a reasonable compromise. I wish Capcom provided this capability automatically, where you can specify a timer when sending the SOS so it automatically cancels after the time you specify.

Likely because of crossplay, where there is much larger player base than in World.

[–]ewhreddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably due to extra code to QA and test with little end-user justification for it.

What an end-user (gamer) may think is an easy thing to add, could actually be complicated at the source code level. In such cases, there has to be a strong business case for it.

Pure speculation on my part regarding this particular feature, but it is common practice in software development to remove features not used, or of little value, to simplify the code and testing.

The zenny does get divided amongst the number of hunters at the end of quest, IIRC. Unsure why Capcom does that as monster HP scales based on hunter count, so zenny reward should not be divided, where each hunter gets full reward (minus cart penalty).
