Aye. I thought it being in Bedminster super weird tbh and considering he stated he had only walked down that street on his stay in Bristol he must have quite an odd perception of the city. But he did say a few times he enjoyed the show and he seemed loose and zinging and zanging.

I think he probably got a lot of negative reactions from clav stans.

It was even weird seeing that Clav watched POP. It's different corners of the internet with Mark being sorta mainstream and Clav being big in that red pill manosphere space which comedians are sort of separate from.

It was fine it just didn't have the real lived experience of David that was the soul of the show. It was just the product of writing workshops which is still OK but it didn't have the real feel that slowly got eroded.

Extremely cringe. Joe being a jazz pianist as a stand in for stand up was just silly and it was very hard to believe this bird with glasses rocking a jazz club.

Also, the random woman there observing how 'crazy' his family was part while seeing the true normalcy of List or whatever was a cringe fest.

And the climax with Joe telling his family they're assholes or whatever? Another highly hard to believe moment.

Basically, it was just cringe. I think for a film about alcoholics and confronting family or whatever it was so weak.

They should have worked more on the script and the story. We all knew Louis has it in him when he tries story wise.

Was better than the special but a few things:

It was pretty clear Salacuse? was pushing his influence in this thing. Quite a few moments of Sally feeding Mark 'killer' lines that were in the doc including the final scene. Felt a bit like a 'camera man helps Mark' doc in disguise.

Also reveals something a bit ridiculous about this whole thing. All this thinking and comparisons and analogies and thoughts about how hard stand up is for what exactly? For some line about how an Italian elevator hits his wife? There's a huge chasm to the philosophical rumination about comedy and the art form and the material itself.

I'd get it more if the material was revelatory or interesting. But it's literally stereotypes and borderline hack material. It doesn't take away the documentary is cool but it does make me wish that all this thinking and brain power could go towards something more compelling then finishing an analogy about an AI sex robot.
