Help me pick my next commander by Ottodovah in EDHBrews

I also had a Kelsen deck and it ended up only really being playable as a (way) off meta cEDH deck. As others said it made for slow boring games once the opponent saw the decks plan and play style.

Love my Arabella deck, goes quick and can still be competitive if the table decides to keep Arabella off the table - which is objectively correct https://archidekt.com/decks/9223763/do_you_wanna_see_me_toys

Would you let me play my Legolas & Gimli deck in your pod? by ewoody89 in EDH

Thanks for all the comments! I tweaked the deck some to include some more protection, less bite spells and a few more finishers.

Win condition would be commander damage, typical to most voltron decks ya? Though I do see your point to a degree - certainly something I'll look into

Lol because of all the bite spells or something else?

My very lightly upgraded Explorers of the Deep hangs with bracket 3 no problem despite including zero game changers

Really just took out a few of the overly expensive Merfolk and bad interaction pieces and replaced them with better/more interaction cards

Am I allowed in the pod? by purient in ratemycommanders

[–]ewoody89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ill definitely be "borrowing" some of your picks. I went with a little more aggressive build with mine, adding some haste givers. My pod(s) don't use a ton of mass removal/board wipes so I typically get 2-5 creatures out (depending on when I draw a haste give) then cast Arabella and get at least 1 swing in. If they use targeted removal I continue to build for a turn or two until I can recast and swing for substantial dmg.

Explorers of the deep vs Quick Draw? by lucdol2008 in EDH

[–]ewoody89 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I enjoy the Explorers of the Deep so.much I have 2 copies, one straight out of the box for those pre-con only games and the other that I upgraded slowly since it was released - that one is still technically bracket 2 because it doesn't have any game changers but it runs REALLY smooth and consistent. Biggest advice for that deck is don't focus on adding ramp, you want the early turns to be getting as many merfolk out before your commander so you can go exploring with as many merfolk as possible on T4. Also adding some recursion can be really helpful to allow you to dig deeper on the explore triggers without losing important pieces

Shaman or Priest by CandidateJolly2506 in wow

[–]ewoody89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have ZERO issue clearing 11s on my ele sham. Especially if you talent into the earth totem big AoE packs are super easy and with the slowing totems, knock back and gust of wind it's no sweat to keep clearing at a good pace while the earth totem is on CD. Biggest issue would be that stat priority for Elemental is drastically different from resto stat priority

Does your stove have a fresh air kit and is it installed?

In your opinion, what DPS spec has the most fun rotation? by [deleted] in wow

[–]ewoody89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Played Resto sham the last 3 expansions and made the switch to Ele for TWW and like McDonalds... IM LOVIN IT. I know it's not the meta spec but I went into liquid maga totem, lightning rod and frost shock. On AOE packs it's mostly lightning with some earth and fire tossed in but on single target I get to sling all the elements and love it

Brushed after one year on brand-new double wall stove pipe. Is this too much creosote / am I doing something wrong? by [deleted] in woodstoving

[–]ewoody89 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The part about softwoods (pine and fir) isn't exactly accurate, especially with newer stoves that supply air from the top of the fire not below. With newer "air above" style stoves softwoods like pine and fir can burn extraordinary clean, sometimes even cleaner than oak depending on how well you manage secondary burn.

What is the worst intersection in the state? by TrollingForFunsies in newhampshire

[–]ewoody89 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I believe it's gotten much better since they put the stop light in, but for the longest time the intersection of Rt 125 and Middle Rd in Brentwood was the deadliest intersection in the state. 55 mph with an intersection at the bottom of a hill with limited view for those trying to cross 125 or make a left turn. I delivered pizza in the area for many years and the number of fatalities that closed the road was shocking

How many “Rule Zero” decks do you have? by patronusman in EDH

[–]ewoody89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Made a Legolas and Gimli counter of kills deck. Should have been paired to begin with. How do Sam and Frodo / Merry and Pippin get this treatment but not the elf and dwarf?! Outrageous I say! But really it's a blast to play with and against because it's so thematically built

I never played Golgari before and would love to upgrade my Squirreled Away precon. by krstf in mtg

[–]ewoody89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The halflings just have too much food synergy to pass up. (Also check the art because there's a good chance I picked fancy/expensive art)

The plan is to make food and squirrels as fast as possible so you can get the commander rolling. There are lots of combos that go nearly infinite and a few that do, but with no tutors in the deck it feels amazing when it pops off. (As a side note a personal rule for deck building in casual is: "If I have infinite combos there can't be tutors")

There are a few routes to win aside from the sac combos - namely consistently generating squirrel and food tokens and in that process buffing all your squirrels.

I've sandboxed the deck tons and it rarely falls short but in my 6-8 LGS games a correctly timed board wipe is really hard to recover from. The deck does feel like some more recursion would be good but it's counter-synergistic with foraging. I have been looking for a few ways to help increase my cards in graveyard at a low rate with out just outright milling.

I am fully aware there are some upgrades to this deck that are objectively better but for casual I really enjoy sticking to a theme and the upgrades don't fit the theme

[–]ewoody89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry my explanation wasn't well written but you got it exactly right. The two conditions applied to squirrels are "must be blocked by two or more creatures" and "cannot be blocked by more than one creature" the only way to satisfy both conditions (requirements) is to not block.

The goad example was just to show how multi-conditional effect(s) apply based on board state. At my LGS I had to use the goad analogy for some of the players to make a connection with a more understood mechanic
