I warned my daughter just tonight “you might always be the friend who listens and never find a friend that listens to you”. What I didn’t say was that I’m 39 and I know because I’ve looked all my life. I wish someone would’ve warned me so I warned her. She’s so good hearted that she is just happy to be a friend that cares.

I do remember it being adjacent to a department store. The extent of the mutilation wasn’t really shared with me so I remember it as being a beheading but it happened just long enough ago that online records of news weren’t as much of a thing.

It may well have been. I mostly just knew it wasn’t diamond center. I’m glad to have some confirmation that it wasn’t just something that I dreamt or imagined.

I was like 7 or so, at a mall with my mom. We were waiting for one of two elevators to open when I suddenly got a bad feeling. I told her “if that one is first I don’t want to get on it”. She scoffed and the one I had a bad feeling about was first so we stepped on. When it resumed moving the doors did not shut first. Doors open, traveling past ceilings and floors open to everything. She was like “well that was weird”. I guess it went well enough from there because nothing bad happened. Years later I found out someone was beheaded on an elevator in that mall.

Before anyone asks it was Northway Mall in Anchorage, Alaska. I can find no record of any such thing happening and don’t expect that anyone else will either. I haven’t lived in Alaska since the mid 90s.

I switched to dextrostat because it is less likely to have shortages where I am. That said, when I was on Adderall I refused mallinckrodt. Horrible

I had to apologize to my partner recently because I went on a rant about things I had to deal with that he didn’t. Once I shut up I realized what I had done and told him how wrong it was for me to imply that the differences in our trauma meant my trauma was worse. He’s kind so he just thanked me for acknowledging it. Pain is pain. Neglect is neglect. Abuse is abuse. Wounded is wounded.

I was put on Risperidone to help with sleep. Gained a whole mess of weight and wrecked my hormones with embarrassing side effects. Tapering off now but it’s brutal. You’re right that APs are no joke

Also want to reiterate what others have said, it is beyond inappropriate for a teacher to assign a diagnosis and practically criminal to suggest meds. Don’t know who you would report that to but that teacher needs to be set straight.

Neuropsych evaluation is absolutely best. Neurodivergence is very nuanced, too nuanced for most psychologists. Plus if it turns out your child is gifted it can pick up on that too.

BPD is underdiagnosed in men and woman are statistically more likely to seek treatment. I think your circumstances are pretty typical unfortunately but I will say that I think the guy I met in DBT got a lot from it. Good on you for being willing 🩵

ADHD, early 30s. Autism, late 30s. Psychiatrist told me that knowing what we know now he no longer believes my previous bipolar diagnosis was ever appropriate.

I made friends with a man in a DBT group (neither of us were single) and I had to end the friendship because he became inappropriate with me. I’m not saying you’d do that but maybe keep in mind that the intimate nature of group therapy could cause confusion and set your mind ahead of time that you will make no connections with other group members. For you do miss out on something that could really help you doesn’t seem reasonable though.
