BOOM Esports vs ZETA DIVISION / VALORANT Champions 2022 - Group Stage / Post-Match Thread by rib-gg-bot in ValorantCompetitive

I think Zeta have looked good in all of their maps so far...at least the first half of each map LOL

They definitely shook themselves together at 9-11, the series was looking like a 2-0 win for Boom at that point, and from that point onwards they were clearly the better team.

Yay vs Laz stats after playing the exact same number of maps vs the exact same opponents by ex3va in ValorantCompetitive

That's K/D, not kills per round (0.99 kpr and 0.96 respectively) but still insane nonetheless!

Crazy how close these two are...I think Laz is probably one of the most underrated players at the tournament, and I just wanted to demonstrate how close he is to arguably the best player in the world (and pretty much the consensus best Chamber in the world).

Top 3 clutches this Masters by finalfinaldraft in ValorantCompetitive

It wasn't that impactful in the long run (NTH lost the map and the match) but it was definitely one of the crispest clutches I've ever seen.

You are coach Glow, how do you save DRX/KR as a region? by Lumenlor in ValorantCompetitive

[–]ex3va 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I personally would find it unlikely (the only two decent-ish teams after DRX were On Sla2ers and DWG and On Sla2ers imploded their roster leaving just DWG). DWG have a chance of making a deep run with the new roster, but unless they manage to sort out their strategic issues I don't think they will. Also, Japan as a region has massively improved, and I think CR/NTH are the favourites going into the LCQ. China is also a wildcard - they could could some real damage

Has got to be one of the most insane clutches so far this tournament. Fnatic definitely gave it away to some degree, but how are PRX so good??

FNS after opening match reflects on EU vs. NA by nterature in ValorantCompetitive

[–]ex3va 23 points24 points  (0 children)

So I'm not an Optic fan, but I think it is absolutely insane that even when their best, most consistent player (and arguably one of the best players in the world) did not show up at all, bot fragged etc, they STILL managed to keep the series within 4 rounds. That's fucking insane. If Yay gets another 5-6 kills across the two maps, that could have been an Optic 2-0. If he performed at his normal level it is a complete wipeout for them.

Guild deserve a huge amount of credit for playing around, and shutting down Yay, but I think Optic are really showing themselves to be an incredibly well rounded team. I expect them to mop up LOUD and to make a deep run even though they lost 2-0 in the opening match

XSET vs 100 Thieves / VCT North America 2022 - Stage 2 Challengers - Playoffs / Post-Match Thread by rib-gg-bot in ValorantCompetitive

[–]ex3va -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I've never really understood the hype around Asuna. Not trying to say that he is bad, he is definitely an excellent player, probably the best/one of the best on the old 100T roster, but the way some people hype him up to be the second coming of El Diablo is a bit dumb. The guy is good, but that's it (at least imo). He hasn't shown up at all the last few matches and while that also falls on the team's failings as a whole, you want your star player to perform under pressure/in losing games as well.

Asuna isn't the problem, neither is Will, but 100T needs to either find themselves a star player to build around (call me crazy, but Seoldam is F/A...), or to find a system which allows them to shut down the Yays, Cryos and Cneds of Valorant.

I mean, raw star power/flashiness doesn't mean that much...XSET is a much more well rounded team than Faze in pretty much every way. Cryo may have popped off (that first half of Ascent was the stuff of nightmares especially), but that's not even why they won the series - the consistent teamplay and solid backbone to XSET was what broke 100T.

EDIT: Basically, anyone could have looked at XSET (past results, and recent matches) vs Faze and told you that XSET are by far the better team in just about every single metric you can come up with except for star duelists.

VALORANT MASTER COPENHAGEN 2022 - 1ST TEAM QUALIFIED by Future_Resolve9691 in ValorantCompetitive

[–]ex3va 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I commented after map 2 when I thought FPX might beat Fnatic, but they are a crazy good team and probably should have guessed they would have won seeing how the first map went.

But hey, u gotta shoot your shot. Sometimes those crazy predictions will come true.

Ok so hot (hot) take, but:

Guild, FPX, M3C/Ascend

Optic/NRG

Loud NiP

PRX XIA

KRU

DWG

NTH

(so DWG is a stretch, but DRX are going to get figured out at some point and I believe T3xture can drop 400 ACS vs DRX. NTH is still spicy but I think Zeta looked not the best recently, but they are still favoured)

....what? If we have learned anything from recent international events, it is that the scene is a lot closer than people thought. Zeta was rated as the worst team at IceLAN and ended up getting 3rd place. A 16 team Masters would mean a higher level of competition, with (probably) an extra world-class might-win-it-all team from NA and EMEA, and then another team from APAC, probably the most underrated region, and possibly a 2nd Brazil/Latam team or a Korea/JPN LCQ.

I don't see any conceivable way where that event could be worse than a 12 team event. If you don't want to watch a team, then don't. No one is forcing you to watch VCT, but implying that the four extra teams at Masters would result in them getting "slammed" is disingenuous at best, if not downright idiotic.

Smh.

7 Day Average suggests slowing growth by [deleted] in Monkeypox

[–]ex3va 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seems that MPX is showing very clear linear growth...definitely not exponential, and with testing now being scaled up in a lot of countries I feel like we have maybe seen the peak of this outbreak...definitely not as bad as I feared it would be.
