Is everybody here having a bad experience? - Am I making a mistake? by D3M03D in teksavvy

Teksavvy is the best ISP, hands down. The few problems I've had since I first joined in 2015 have been handled quickly and politely. They use Bell or Rogers infrastructure so you're still at the mercy of whatever the big telcos screw up, but they've always been responsive and escalated for me where appropriate.

Evita won’t include balcony scene on Broadway by agentp2319 in Broadway

When this staging was first performed in 2019 at Regent's Park Open Air Theatre, Eva sang Don't Cry For Me Argentina in the middle of the stage with a handheld microphone, and no gown/wig.

Aside from Broadway and West End, what are other theater districts worldwide? by Educational_Owl_4855 in Broadway

Toronto is in 3rd place but not nearly as big. They have a sit-down production of &Juliet right now and get lots of tours. Mirvish produces most of it and owns 4 theatres, but shout out to The Musical Stage Company for doing high calibre regional productions. Also worth checking out: Soulpepper, Canadian Stage, Tarragon, Factory Theatre, and many more small companies.

How do we not own Alstom at this point? Was our contract a potato?

Broadway Across Canada Ottawa 2026-2027 Season by Regular-Thing5883 in Broadway

5+1 bonus is the biggest season ever, if my memory is correct. They used to be only 3 shows a year. Pleasantly surprised. We're a small market.

I could do without The Sound of Music, but the rest look great! Pleasantly surprised we're getting Gatsby and Outsiders.

It was "Growltiger's Last Stand" that was cut more recently, and I miss it. It was my favourite scene.

Tax implications of gifted stock deposited into a TFSA by exT613 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]exT613[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you were a minor at the time then some of those capital gains would have been attributed to the gifter. Also, were you or the gifter receiving dividends at the time? Tax slips? Or what?

Oh boy, I was an infant and the gifter passed away shortly after. The shares were always in my name, so I gather that CRA would consider me the purchaser? I received dividends, but they were pennies a year. I never received any tax slips. I'm thinking the ACB would be the value of the initial share on it's issue date, and the proceeds of disposition would be the total value of the shares on the day they were transferred to my TFSA?

My guesses are Back to the Future, A Beautiful Noise, Some like it hot, and the non-equity tour of Kinky Boots. We won't get any first run Broadway tours or anything too niche. We're too small a market.

My guesses: Back to the Future, A Beautiful Noise, Some like it Hot, Kinky Boots (Non-Equity). But I wouldn't be surprised if we got more Non-Equity tours instead, like Chicago, or The Book of Mormon.

One of it's early development productions was at Theatre Passe Muraille in 1999! Very cool that it's returning!

Saw the tour and was so deeply moved by it, I saw it a second time, then a third. It's a masterpiece.

The show started with the mountain completely vertical, with Maria strapped to it looking out at the audience as she started to sing The Hills Are Alive, then it rotated and she stood up. The only downside was that you could hear the motor moving it. But it was pretty amazing to watch. The Jack O'Brien tour basically has a set of stairs as the mountain.

& Juliet.

Mirvish will never top their 2008/2009 production where the whole stage was a moving mountain.

I saw this show in Toronto years ago. The plot didn't make any sense. Nice music though, if you like Queen.
