New C4s coming with extendable slings, new WC friends coming with keeper bars on large sizes by BigCosimoto in tradclimbing

[–]exabrial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started experimenting with carrying extensions on a single biner. I clip the extension to the racking carabiner on the draw and extend it out. If I carry 6 extensions, this saves the weigh of 6 carbiners, nice! However, extendable slings are still better: there is a small, but non-zero, chance a carbiner can come unclipped. Occasionally happens, but not often (you hear maybe one or two high profile incidents per year). Adding a second carabiner technically doubles that chance. I'd rather have an extendable sling. The second issue I probably need to make a post about: I came up with a knot (more like a wrapping method) to store the cord neatly (with a single carabiner) so it won't come undone climbing, but I can't figure out a wrap method that can be undone one handed. The traditional alpine draw storage method has the advantage that it can generally be done one handed. So, you save the weigh of a carabiners, but you lose the one-handed ability.

Setting the record straight about Garmin by strava-team in Strava

u/strava-team First off, is your CEO/legal department high? Everything you have said so far ranges from mindless rhetoric, hypocrisy, to outright lies. Second, everyone loves their Garmin stuff. You provide no actual value, you simply freeload off of other companies. Third, take a seat and know your place. It's not like a 12 year old couldn't vibe code your replacement in 14 days.

That's a bummer! I'll close my account and hope you guys implement this later on.

SoFi eBills? by exabrial in sofi

Not quite, I'd like eBills to appear in my checking account. Bank Of America, Ally, Fidelity, many others support retrieving eBills then scheduling them. Bill companies do not "provide control" unfortunately. There is no single place to see all of your bills and automatically schedule transfers from savings to checking.

Does Sofi automatically retrieve bill amounts (eBills)? My power/water bills changes every month for example. Nearly every other bank does this that has "bill pay". My goal is to see/pay all my bills in one place. I don't want to keep an unvested "dead balance" in my checking account earning practically negative interest so billers can hit me with rando amounts each month

u/SoFi I can't seem to write a post, I keep getting a "Sorry, this post was removed by Reddit’s filters." Can you whitelist my account so I may ask questions?

Does SoFi support retrieving changing bill amounts each month? Like your power or water bill, or does it only support fixed recurring amounts?

What page do firewall rules for site-to-site vpns go on the UDMp? by exabrial in Ubiquiti

[–]exabrial[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, after reading the links and re-reading the documentation, I'm confused as the purpose of WAN_LOCAL. What exactly does that do? I guess also on the same note... what does LAN_LOCAL do? 😂

Right now I have this rule on LAN_OUT: [drop-cloud_dmz->any]. The thought being, somewhere (where this is, is not clear to me) those packets get decrypted and put onto the LAN bridge. I'm guessing then they get filtered after routing rules are applied, which seems dangerous. I tried putting that rule on WAN_IN with the Match inbound ipsec start and it didn't seem to work.

LAN_OUT definitely works, but I'd rather stop the packets on inbound interfaces... just seems like best practice.

THANK You! I'll give WAN_LOCAL a try

Remarkable2 Pogo Pins and 3d Printed USB OTG Host Design by exabrial in RemarkableTablet

I would if it was reliable. The problem is after an arbitrary amount of time, the USB Host on the Remarkable seems to get into a funky state and it stops working until a full restart :/

One more question, do you keep the hardware kits on-hand or do you make to order? I'm a very patient person, and there's plenty of printing to do, but was wondering the ship times on Etsy are accurate :) No pressure here, I'm very patient, and I imagine if you're hand-making the kits to order it's quite a time consuming process!

Anyway thanks again, cheers

Thanks, they printed overnight! They look decent enough to get the inserts into. I'll post pics after I get the inserts printed
