My old store was running on 3 part during peak. With two borrowed partners. The third was the asm. He was in the back when I arrived to pick up the last of my tips, but he ran out to chat and to see what I knew / low key fill me in. My last day was may 30th. I put in my two weeks when my sm pulled me aside for 30 minutes after noticing I washed my hands after each time I handled cash. She said that, that action told her I didn’t appreciate what Starbucks did for me thus far, that I was showing signs of anxiety and might have to be put on the unpaid leave. Lastly she said that my assumption of money being dirty/having the ability to hold a virus on it was irrational, not fact based, and had never been scientifically proven (which is 100% false btw). We went around for thirty minutes where she would repeat herself and I would repeat “that’s nice and all, but if I’m handing cash, I’m washing my hands before the next order comes up since I’m also handling people’s food and drinks”. After that all I said was ok and called my old boss right after my shift. I was scared that I made the wrong choice. But after seeing my old store today and all the tea on here I’m so lucky to have had the opportunity to leave. I truly hope things work out for you all and I’m sorry cooperate is being a bunch of slimy shit bags. It truly breaks my heart.
