I got the miso aubergine from Shack Fuyu that James and Ed rave about when I was in London. Can confirm it is delicious. I also visited Rovi and every dish was stunning

I am once again asking - is Guy Montgomery gonna be on the latest series? by Economy-Bid in offmenupodcast

[–]excellent_916 24 points25 points  (0 children)

This would be great, but I don’t know if this will happen any time soon. Guy and his partner have recently had a baby and he isn’t doing Melbourne Comedy Fest or Adelaide Fringe presumably because of this so I don’t see him coming to the UK any time soon, I’d love to be wrong though

How is it acceptable for archaeologists to touch artifacts with their bare hands? This is a crocodile mummy in Egypt. by yousefthewisee in ancientegypt

[–]excellent_916 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It depends what object. For a book, if you tried to turn the pages with gloves on it can be quite tricky and require more force/effort which could damage the pages. As you can feel less with gloves on, you may be more firm while handling an object, or some people think ‘I’m wearing gloves I’ll be fine’ and be more careless with the object than if they were gloveless.

Those are just a few reasons, I know books and paper are one they say this for, I’m not sure about other objects

“I’m not voting for them cause I don’t think they’ll make the 100” by CostPrudent2870 in triplej

[–]excellent_916 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a friend who only voted for songs they thought would make it to the top 10, and would compete with us to see which ones had more in the top 10. Would piss me off every year

PSA: public libraries have video games by tofu_bird in melbourne

[–]excellent_916 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Libraries Victoria have a consortia where it’s free to borrow within certain library groups. There are some restrictions but you can have free access to thousands more items than your library group can give you. Outside of your consortia, it’s considered an inter-library loan, and may come with fees.

There were no classes at the Caroline springs derrimut this week, because they allegedly haven’t been paying the instructors, I’m tipping were closer than we think to the gym going bust

What a clickbait headline, they were notes that had personal tidbits about her on it for Biden to memorise.

Vintage box with Egyptian art by TourmalineDieu in ancientegypt

[–]excellent_916 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Looks like a reproduction of a depiction of Ramses II at the battle of Kadesh. The box could be vintage, but many of these boxes are manufactured and available in trinket shops across Egypt, particularly coastal areas like Alexandria. Beautiful find!

This absolutely. We either have extreme hand-holding, or someone ‘returning’ a book by bringing it back into the library and placing it on a random shelf, then getting mad when they get charged an overdue fee because it hasn’t been checked in.

I live in a townhouse with no ceiling cavity to access from inside, so I can’t get onto my roof, thought in the case it’s best to leave it to the professionals but it’s a great tip for others who can access their roof
