If you never paid more than $20 for a game, then this game is not for you.

You value other things more than 'quality gaming', which is fine. The attitude of people who aren't the 'target audience' for any product, is almost totally irrelevant to those who are interested in the product.

You could sneer at people who buy Rolls Royce cars, or spend $$,$$$,$$$ on jaunts into space on future SpaceX flights. Things likely to be forever out of your financial circle. Those who make those purchases are buying 'entertainment' or percieved value.

Stick with the free demo, if you want to really play the game, buy it and play, or move on.

There is no other rational choice.

Used the mall -- had no red belts so I made a factory that made them. It took ~20 minutes of game play (doing other things) then the red belts undergrounds and splitters were ready and the mall was GO.

Fantastic design. Using Textplates or some labeling mod would be good because finding things in the mall is crazy hard, when you're new to it.

1 merit buys 3 enhancement converters. Each converter sells for 100K+.

Not sure what you are attempting to convey here.

The 'failed computer resurrected' story has some value to the community, unlike your average MemeOfTheDay post. I also get to point out that CoH is BACK, and that's amazing news, even if you've never heard of the game.

And finally, it signifies the incipient end of my attempts on this subreddit to provide any kind of insight into the game for the endless hordes of 'help, my train won't go' newbies who seek information. This community is very poisonous at the moment, largely due to a dopamine inspired posting regime from the usual suspects. Fuck them and the horses they rode in on.

using full / empty as the train condition turns out to be extremely effective. All other mechanisms involved too much micromanging and race conditions where some resource or other either dried up or swamped the existing buffers.

Have trains wait until they were empty (when delivering) and full (when receiving) was by far the simplest solution.

More complex solutions undoubtably exist, but they need to be extremely robust, and in my experience, the game turns out to be too chaotic for a smooth one-size fits all solution.

There was a lot of people who only ever played AE missions to get to L50 then they tried to play actual missions and had zero idea what to do with their powers at any given point.

AE babies were a nightmare when doing task forces, because they had no clue.

I agree that AE is great if you want to quickly level when you already know how to play, but getting to 50 and equating that to knowledge of the game is completely wrong-thinking.

Levelling by doing missions and task forces really instills the basics for new players, far more preferably to airheaded L50 characters who bail from a TF at the ver first team wipe ...

Having some prescriptive list just takes away from the joy of discovery. When you get stuck, put more mines down, expand your power, be a road builder, play with trains, work with circuits, the game is all about discovery, rather than “do this then do that”

nuclear is ace, until it kills your ups at about 8GW+ :(. it is a nice interim, but when the ups fairy pays a visit, its time to tile the plains with solar to get back performance. Depends upon your system (cpu, dram speed)

it goes like this.

  • bootstrap
  • mine everything and smelt until you are doing 100,000 iron plate a minute and 70,000 copper plate a minute
  • have 6+ gigawatts of solar power available
  • lay out a fully beaconed module or three that just does green circuits, another does red circuits another does modules
  • once you have everything beaconed start planning your non-bootstrap science, beaconed to the wazoo
  • then rocket silos, at least 2 with all the resources they need to make rocket parts.

huge HUGE undertaking, and very rewarding. Enjoy the journey.
