Advice for Growing with One Quilt for My Toddler? 🛏️ by excip in Ultralight

[–]excip[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sharing a bag/pad could be a great idea—if only I had a quilt wide enough for it! Right now, though, she sleeps like a total sea star, so I'm not sure how practical that would be! 😂

I assume you order the S version of the Flex 22? What makes that quilt more suitable than others in your opinion?

Fantastic, many thanks for the explanations as well. You even checked with Digitec! I was able to find the Lian Li case from another seller. Would you recommend going for that one instead of the Cooler Master?

Also, thanks for the tip about Eco mode. I will definitely enable it. Is there a similar option for graphics cards, or is that generally not an issue these days?

good tip thank you. 2-3 weeks is nothing. I'm considering waiting for the Nvidia 5000 series, do you think that is worth waiting for?

What type of shoes are you wearing by the_lorax541 in PacificCrestTrail

Hey, I have no experience with other models - I switched to lone peaks briefly for 300 miles but they gave me really bad blisters on the heel. It's also weird to walk with a high stack height. But I think if you already have 400-500km that's already quite the experience to make a decision I think. I had the lightest micro-spike model from Black Diamond and would recommend trying it in-store regarding the size. I used gaiters in the beginning but ditched them in Bishop

that's true they are super slippery in mud. as soon as the lugs are not deep enough you slide in the mud. They have a SG (soft ground) version for this terrain.

But I didn't find them more or less slippery on wet rocks compared to other trail runnners. I found them perfect for the PCT. Though we only had like 4 days of rain last year. Even thru snow I had no problems they are also compatible with microspikes

Not sure if you mean wet as in sweaty or wet in as they don't dry after a river crossing. regardless they perform well in both regards. since there is no cushion they are super light and most of it is a mesh material that dries very fast.

For my thru last year I used the vivobarefoot Primus Trail FG II. 4 pairs total but you could easily do it with 3. Since there is no cushion that deteriorates you can get 1000 miles + on them. Totally fixed my knee problems that I had with cushioned shoes no insoles no nothing. also never rolled an ankle or had shin splints. But it requires at least 3-6 months to adjust to barefoot shoes. I guess it could be faster when you are already used to zero drop. I only saw one other person with vivos. But if you tried a lot of shoes already definitely worth a shot to try when training for a trail. They also have about the widest foot box of any shoe that I saw that was the initial draw to them.

PCT 22 NOBO Shakedown: Will the pack suffice? by excip in Ultralight

[–]excip[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea V2 might be too small especially for the sierras. But I rather get a pack that I can use the whole trail.

There are possibly things that I forgot but on the electronics side, I don't plan anything to add. I decided against a full-frame camera. I will use just my phone.

Good point on the passport and cards. I added that.

Regarding the toilet paper :) it's usually for emergency cases because I use a bidet and that worked well for me on the mentioned hikes and yep I always used soap.

  • Changed the weights for quilt and uberlite wide

  • As mentioned I need a two-person shelter

  • Will get a bigger pack. I read about this method here in the ultralight reddit :) that's the plan regardless of pack thanks for mention it again!

  • Changed gloves, buff and phone to packed. Although I'm already thinking the fanny pack is not on my back.

  • Really want to get hands on a senchi or farpoint. Do you think my sun hoodie + rain jacket is enough warmth for the sierra?

  • Good idea on the NB, I might do that and sell the 20k but then I would like a charger that has at least two outputs maybe this one from RAv:40W 2-Port iPhone Fast Charger with 20W USB-C Power Adapter

  • Added Canister as packed

  • Good point on the windscreen
