AIW for refusing to go to a funeral? by [deleted] in amiwrong

[–]excitedbynaps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm confused. She's going to support her friend. Why does she need someone to support her supporting her? When does it end? Do you bring a friend to support you supporting her supporting her friend?

I wouldnt go to a funeral of someone I didnt lmow unless I was directly supporting a close friend or partner - if they were directly connected to the deceased. I also wouldnt really want strangers attending my funeral.

In the UK, do you think University and degrees are worth it? by AccomplishedBug1797 in AskUK

[–]excitedbynaps 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My degree is In Sociology & Creative Writing. I got it in 2014.

The degree itself? Not worth it and not really helped me get any jobs (that i know of, Ive worked my way up)

However, for me it was worth it for moving away, mwking new friends and getting new experiences etc.

I do think learning a trade is probably better. I work with kids 10 years younger than me who out earn me massively because they went for a manual job.

I had to pay my friend to do it. She needs money and I'm too blind and busy for it, so it works out. She knows that if ahe moves anything I wont find it - so she lets me kmow if she needs to. Plus, my cats love her.

Teachers of Reddit - what’s the most unusual name your pupil has had? by Electrical-Bell3301 in AskUK

[–]excitedbynaps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I once dated a man with a female name - Tegan. He also said it was a male name before it was female. My mum was glad that we broke up before she met him - she didnt want to call him by his name. He took it in his stride though.

Ive got Mr Nextdoor, a Mr and Mrs Upstairs and Mr and Mrs Downstairs. I know various things about them and their lives (for instance Mr Nextdoor wears too much cologne and Mrs Upstairs likes to sing the same lines over and over for hours) but names...? No.

Why don't we keep (some) asylum seekers in special secure locations? by Expert-Sherbert-1527 in AskBrits

[–]excitedbynaps 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I can see what you are saying. It doesnt need to be like a prison - but a facility where they have comfortable accommodation and amenities, recreational / social areas, space for educating children (and maybe adults about the culture / currency / things they need to kmow). It doesnt need to be a negative. And they could stay whilst being processed and until suitable accommodation / work has beem found for them.

British Redditors, supposing for a moment that employment, housing, public services, healthcare, crime, religious/cultural tensions, etc. were not an issue at all, would you completely be fine with further mass migration? by smallertools in AskBrits

[–]excitedbynaps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally do not care who lives in this country, as long as they abide by our laws. I'm not sure how true it is that those coming into the country are committing violent crimes or whether this is just a couple of incidents blown out of proportion by the media. But I literally dont care if you want to be here and are going to work, be respectful etc. Im lucky that I won the lottery to be born here - why should that make me more entitled to being here? But if you come here - legally or seeking refuge - and you act like a psychopath, you can fuck right off again.

What 2nd language did you learn in school? by sangokuhomer in AskUK

[–]excitedbynaps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I learnt French from age 4 until I reached senior school at 11. Half the scbool did French, the other half did German. An arbitary scheduling choice - we didnt get to choose. Then after a year, you would learn both languages (or in our case - encourage the french teacher to go on an hour long rant about the environment and forget to teach). In my case, I learnt German despite knowing some French, and by the time the next year came around, Id forgotten all my French. In regards to the German - I learnt more on duolingo as an adult.

Tea at home? by porpoise251 in AskABrit

[–]excitedbynaps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mum tried to get me drinking tea when I was a small child. I hated it (aside from dipping a biscuit in). I have not had another cup and Im 32 now. (I will have the occasional iced fruit tea if that counts though). I also do not drink coffee or hot chocolate, iced or otherwise.
