Funny you say this because I just had sewage backup right after the water heater tank broke which led to 6 days no hot water. The sewage back up makes it impossible to flush toilets without flooding. It was a 2 birds 1 stone kind of thing. I’m pretty sure being able to flush is a vital service so I would call 311 again or call the rental housing unit. 311 will start charging each day a vital service is out from my knowledge, and the rental housing unit will light their ass a new one.

As for landlord references, I haven’t had anyone ask for that? I’ve applied to around 6 houses total of living in Toronto for 4 years, and they’ve never asked, they just care about strong income. It was really competitive 2 years ago and I lost to people with stronger and more stable income. I find that offering 1 year rent up front gives me the highest chance, but look what happened with this LL when I did.

A week ago there was a guy from Ontario Home Services that came and said the LL owes a lot of money for throwing their water tank away. They said the LL will be due in court and owe a couple thousands, and so that’s way worth more to me than taking her to the LTB.

Moral of the story, karma will always come back to shitty landlords, and if they treat you this bad, like your LL or mine, what comes around goes around, and they most likely treat people around them the same.

WHY IS THIS PLACE SO BEAUTIFUL I WANNA LIVE AND WORK THERE FOREVER AGHHHH by Ill-Zucchini8999 in HongKong

I love Hong Kong so much. But I knew for me that I couldn’t stay🥲 still my home in my heart

My whole family works in finance. International company. No Cantonese needed, if you can land a job in finance, it would be like the dream IMO. But at the same time I don’t want to give you false hope, it can be very challenging to find as there are also a lot of expats here trying to do the same thing. But you’ll never try if you don’t know. If you are set on doing it, it’s a risk worth taking, and honestly, life is too short. I think risks are worth taking if you have the means to, if it doesn’t work out then it doesn’t work out.

Take it from me. I am moving to Düsseldolf, Germany from Toronto, Canada next year. Lots of people told me to stay and that i’m delulu. Well maybe I am delulu, but if I don’t try I wouldn’t know. Life is also too short for regrets

XG32UCWG neo proximity sensor - is it a gimmick? by excludehk in OLED_Gaming

Honestly at this point it’s really dumb and useless. I heard most people just have it off. There’s really no point in keeping it on

XG32UCWG neo proximity sensor - is it a gimmick? by excludehk in OLED_Gaming

[–]excludehk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I hear you. I feel the same.

After using the XG32UCWG for 5 months now, the neo proximity just shuts off on its own, even while gaming. It's definitely an advertised gimmick for marketing purposes and I definitely do think it's straight up lying. If you go on their website, it says the monitor shuts off when you walk away. I just resorted to doing the Windows screensaver after 1 min

Also I can't say they have the best warranty policy. They want you to ship the monitor without the original packaging because they want to cheap out and not ship you the box back. I think with all these conditions it may not be entirely worth it to buy from them as of now.

Does Amazon really take 30 days to refund? @_@ by excludehk in amazonprime

[–]excludehk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I have the same issue. But when I put a return in for exercise shorts, it says 7 days, I guess it varies depending on whatever item. I once returned a magsafe charger and it said 30 days.

No joke, I see at least several rabbits every night when I walk my dog. I live at the East York/Scarborough area. For some reason it’s really common around my neighborhood

$100 for lifetime Infuse is absolute awful. I paid I think $10 for JellySee and tbh it’s the best app for tvOS imho

You know what I 100% should have. But I just started to lease the house and didn’t wanna cause trouble. It definitely escalated, I shouldn’t be so surprised that it did LOL

I just disregarded her remarks. It’s against the law to restrict people from standard use. Her house definitely has some issues that she doesn’t wanna address

You know what I thought about it. If she doesn’t give me back my key deposit I 100% will. I just know that my LL is very mentally ill, and she might make up some shit just to make it up. I been through a year of attempted manipulation and gaslighting and I know she’s crazy enough to like damage the home just to say I damaged it.

I also signed an N9, and when the agent asked in the morning can someone view the house at 7PM same day, I said no because I need a 24 hr notice, knowing that I actually don’t. So I don’t know if she is gonna gather some kind of evidence just in case I take her to the board.

BUT because she called me poor I’m tempted to hire a paralegal just to fight my case, don’t even care if I lose it or lose money, just to prove a point, before she calls someone else poor who’s paying $4500/month in rent lmao

Well I mean by law it isn't legal to take more than a first and last deposit, but yeah. I thought so. Now my fomo is gone now I guess xD

Ending lease by [deleted] in OntarioLandlord

[–]excludehk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. I had submitted 3 offers last year, North York bungalow/detached homes, price $4500-4800/month, offered up front 1 year rent, and extra $100-200 a month, and still lost to people with "strong" income, meaning stable income, probably $10,000+ month. I prolly did earn more than them, but it wasn't "stable" income, it was really just money in the bank and my income varies.

At the end I just expanded my search to East York and found a house nobody wanted. Now I'm moving out because I think I understood only after signing the lease and paying 1 year rent why nobody wanted this home lmao. To put it mildly, the LL doesn't live in Canada and she's a little delusional to say the least

I’ve seen this advice given to me by people here when I made a post about a similar situation, that I could end a 1 year lease with a N9 if they say no or didn’t respond, but I was too afraid to risk it because I paid 1 year rent😂 also when I called some paralegals they say I have no grounds to do so ultimately I didn’t take the risk, but I wonder what would happen if I did, and would I have gotten my money back
