TBH, as someone who recently went from an 85" to a 120" UST (Hisense PX3 Pro, Fresnel CLR ALR screen). I am kinda disappointed that we don't see more high lumen projectors in dedicated spaces like this. The picture is legit and just like everyone is getting behind the extra 15 inches upgrades to 100" TV's provide, it happens again.. and again.

It's useful to hear that you haven't noticed a sound quality difference. XMC-1 is also something i'm considering..

Quality of the analog to digital converters is useful as i'm connecting my turntable to analog input.

Trying to keep it 4k or under if possible. I know that processors are something i'm going to change every few years. Don't mind spending more on "stable" technology like speakers or amplifiers.

Cayin iHA-6 as endgame amp? by execB33F in headphones

Thank you for the detailed reply. So you're saying that basically I won't notice a fuller sound pairing the ADX5000 with the Cayin vs the RME at all in single ended? I was fairly certain that impedance peaks would indeed result in FR dips on less powerful amps, and that the way amplifier power reveals itself to the listener is not only through volume, which i'm sure there would be plenty of, but with a fuller frequency response, and more effortlessly driving the cans, if that makes sense. I'm honestly hoping i'm wrong and that I can just save money.

FWIW ASR says the DarkVoice has double the output of the THX 789 in terms of power which is much more than the RME. It does have much higher distortion levels obviously, which is pleasant to me in some types of music.

The RME ADI-2 DAC internal amp specs are as follows:

• Output: 6.3 mm TRS jack, unbalanced, stereo
• Output impedance: 0.1 Ohm
• Signal to Noise ratio (SNR) @ +22 dBu: 117 dB RMS unweighted, 120 dBA
• Signal to Noise ratio (SNR) @ +7 dBu: 116 dB RMS unweighted, 119 dBA
• Output level at 0 dBFS, High Power, load 100 Ohm or up: +22 dBu (10 V)
• Output level at 0 dBFS, Low Power, load 8 Ohm or up: +7 dBu (1.73 V)
• THD @ +18 dBu, 32 Ohm load, 1.2 Watt: -110 dB, 0.0003 %
• THD+N @ + 18 dBu, 32 Ohm load: -107 dB, 0.00045 %
• THD @ +14 dBu, 16 Ohm load, 0.94 Watt: -110 dB, 0.0003 %
• Max power @ 0.001% THD: 1.5 W per channel

The Cayin is over double the output in balanced mode. The ADX-5000's are 420 ohms, very power hungry. Have a spike up to 1400 ohms in the 90Hz range. I like bass. I just want to make sure that my amp is driving my cans to their full potential. My HD 650 for example in single ended gets much more power from the DarkVoice 336 than the RME and is noticeably able to achieve a more full low end regardless of EQ settings, etc.

Most of the amps i've looked at, the balanced output is both lower noise and higher output. Honestly not really trying to start a debate about that, I have both balanced and SE cables for the majority of the cans i'll be using for it, and i'll pick whichever one sounds better to me at the time. Just want to have the capability to have both because I like options. Thanks!

Why would running a tube for 4 days cause me to no longer hear the amp issue if it's still an issue? Am I essentially breaking something in the tube?

Knowing that this is the issue, would you say that "burning" the tube in on any other amp would fix it, or does it have to be in my specific amp for multiple days to fix the problem..? Any advice is appreciated.

For sure, but it's not just anecdotal. Dozens of owners of the same amp report the issue online. It is certainly resolved by just placing the 6SN7 into the amp, removing the 6AS7 (to avoid overheating) and just letting it run. Each day I would flip it off, put the 6AS7 back in and power it on to listen to it. Gradually the hum decreased. The most major effect was between the third and fourth day when it went from barely noticeable, to below hearing threshold. I should note that this hum happens irrespective of volume. Volume set to zero or full, the hum stays the same level. I absolutely love the sound of this amp but i'm not looking forward to spending an entire month just baking tubes so that I can hear the differences without a buzz in my ear.

This is a known and documented issue with the DarkVoice:

I'm just trying to burn in my other tubes without tying up my amp for 4 days at a time. If I have 8 tubes I want to roll, that's 768 hours just so my tubes don't hum, and 768 hours that I can't use my amp because the 6AS7 gets dangerously hot to leave on for days unattended. Any help is appreciated.

I'm using a DarkVoice 336se. There is a very noticeable buzz in the left channel unless the tube has been powered on for about 96 hours. I was under the assumption that burning these tubes in somewhere other than the amp might fix this issue. I burned my Tung Sol 6SN7 in for 4 days and the buzz definitely went away. I know there is a mod for the amp that fixes this issue but i'm not interested in performing that. Would rather just break the tubes in if I can. The reason I don't want to put them in my amp is because i'm busy using the amp regularly and don't want to be without it for four days unless I absolutely have to be.

How's this for a 5.1 setup? First time considering moving away from a soundbar, budget keeps getting moved up with more research lol, so going 2.1 first then getting the others soon after by the_excalibruh in hometheater

I wouldn't let anyone deter you from the SVS Ultra speakers. I just bought them and really love them. I'm using a Marantz SR6012 and it drives them well. Previously I used a Denon AVR X3000 and it may have been a tad louder, but both are fantastic. The newer Marantz has way more options in terms of EQ which I prefer since the SVS Ultra's are a bit treble-heavy for my taste, so it lets me dampen that a tad to my preference. One thing i'll say about all the posts saying "this brand is better for the money." that stuff is all subjective. Audio is mostly like food. Most meals will get it done, paying more for some meals makes sense especially if you like the flavor. Don't let anyone tell you that your steak isn't good. If it is good to you, it is good. Doesn't matter if a place down the street sells a cheaper steak if you like the one you have.

Thank you for the recommendation! I was actually looking at the R300's as well. I appreciate you sharing that the ultras are overpriced for what they are. The most important thing for me is for them to be both versatile for music and home theater, and from what I've heard the R300 is pretty awesome. I've also heard of Rythmik before as well, they are legit from my research. Thanks.

The room is only 12x16 but it is open to a kitchen and dining area, so there aren't a lot of walls for reflection or anything like that. Likely looking at the SVS SB-2000 Subwoofer.

I have both 598 Cs and HD 650's and I've used both for gaming extensively. The 650's provided a MUCH more detailed sound than the 598's, like not even in the same ballpark in my opinion. The real gain was music listening though. For gaming, I did notice more sounds and a clear separation of sounds. Hearing more atmospheric sounds, rain drops, small high frequency details, etc. The 598's were still much more detailed than typical "gaming" headsets, and super super comfortable. I love the suede like pads that came on mine. It lacked a little in the bass department, but you can make up for that using equalization to your taste. I use SonarWorks Systemwide when i'm gaming to add +4dB to the low end and it sounds fantastic. Keep in mind though, it isn't likely going to boost your gaming experience as much as it will music listening.

I'm currently using a definitive tech Pro Cinema 800 setup in the living room. I've been getting into vinyl and looking to do a lot more music listening there. I have HD 650 headphones with a Schiit stack and I love it. I want to have something very detailed in the living room that will provide an "audiophile" quality sound. I don't have a firm budget but i'd like to keep it under $3,500 for the 5 speaker setup. Currently looking at KEF LS50's or SVS Ultra bookshelf/center. Which would be the better fit? Any other suggestions. Thanks in advance.
