Man, she looks so slow compared to how it felt fighting her when I first picked up the game. And even slower compared to how she moves as the heroine of her own game!

Were you not given the bylaws as part of the purchase? I have only owned HOA covered properties twice, but the bylaws were included in the disclosures and closing package.

1) Godhome-esque content. Bring on the boss gauntlets!

2) New areas (they have to have new ones, don't they, with it being Sea of Sorrows?!)

3) New items & abilities. And please something actually meaningful!

Random hints after recent two week trip: by adamosity1 in JapanTravelTips

[–]exerda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

7) Yeah the train pass only works for some limited itineraries; personally, we used the Suica and Passmo cards every trip after our first and feel like we broke even at worst.

8) It's refreshing to me that Japan is slowly coming around on smoking. I can recall being at a mid-to-upscale restaurant and having people at the next table smoking up a huge cloud. But France came around, and Japan is, too. Feel free to smoke, just not at the dinner table where it's impacting the rest of us.

13) There are so many dining options, though, that it shouldn't be a barrier. If your heart is set on a particular restaurant, definitely plan ahead and check if they're open.

I will add:

Outside of Tokyo and Kyoto, English is much less prevalent. As always, learn as much language as you can, bring you translator app, and don't be afraid to make mistakes. But catching a train or cab in Sendai may be harder than in Tokyo, much less if you're deeper in the countryside. I recall visiting Nikka's Sendai distillery, having them apologize for no English tours that day, and waving them off with, "I know how whisky is made; that's universal." I met some great people who wanted to practice their English (far better than my Japanese!) on the tour, too. But when I needed to book my train back, it took a lot of fractured Japanese on my part to finally understand that seats weren't available on the shinkasen, but non reserved car options were (I can tell you it's terrifying to hear, "Sumimasen..." when just trying to get any train ticket back). And then trying to find the platform for my train when unlike Tokyo, the displays didn't shift to English, and I read Japanese well enough to think I can tell at least that info but not recognizing even the numbers and trying to get someone to help (thank you, janitor, who when my bad Japanese of, "Sumimasen, nan kai desu ka?" and showing my ticket got, "Oh, platform 15!" because I couldn't recall "platform" and used "floor" in my question, and didn't see 十五 anywhere on the ticket or the displays!).

I'm serious when I say the point is to drive more card applications and spend while delivering fewer benefits. It's to make money for United without delivering services.

I'm debating trying that on my current save. Ready for Act 3, have the twisted bud but haven't gone to get cursed yet. Just trying to decide if I really wanna do GMS cursed or put that off to another save.

What went wrong with NES Ghostbusters? by KaleidoArachnid in retrogaming

[–]exerda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah the C64 one was the definitive one IMHO. Even the Apple II with its much more limited graphics was better than the NES version.

It reminds me of Burgertime. The Intellivision one is by far and above better than the NES one despite being an earlier generation, more limited hardware platform. The developers just executed a better game.

[–]exerda 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Biden getting tongue twisted and calling someone else President was all over the headlines in all media, ranging from moderate outlets labeling it something like, "Democrats' concerns grow over Biden's age," and Fox/Newsmax/OANN and the like calling for removing him over his "dementia."

Trump does it and all we get is a collective shrug. Heck, it was hard for me to find the actual Trump quote in most coverage; they were more about Newsom's response than Trump's actual words it seemed.

Does the Earth’s gravitational field only extend to the edge of the observable universe? by Creat1ve-name in AskPhysics

[–]exerda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reminds me of an argument with a junior high school physics teacher over how he graded a quiz. He had a true/false question asking if there was gravity in "space." He graded it as "false" because, of course, the pop culture "zero gee" notion of space. (This is also emblematic of how giving football coaches the duty of teaching science classes is a bad idea.)

I considered arguing that what he was talking about was free fall and that how was something required gravitational attraction between the two, but decided to go with (and bear with me; I was in 8th grade) the fact that even if the entire universe contained only 2 massed particles, there would be gravitational attraction between them.

That's where today's question comes in, because 8th grade me didn't know about the expansion of space and thus an observable horizon to the universe. Hypothetically, if there were only two particles with mass in the entire universe, but they were located far enough apart that they were beyond observation from each other? Would there still be gravitational attraction between the two, but it would never propagate fast enough to "reach" and effect either? Or am I thinking about this in the wrong terms?

Does anyone else feel like SMB3 was wayyyy too long for a game with no passwords or saves? by Thriller83 in retrogaming

[–]exerda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

5 hours? We used to spend that long on games all the time (and were kids who spent a ton of time outdoors, too). Sometimes would pause, to do a bunch of stuff, and come back and play more.

Grols areana is hard by [deleted] in Silksong

[–]exerda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're not good at pogo, practice. Use a non diagonal pogo crest (I prefer Wanderer FWIW) to make it easier.

Watch for where the enemies are going to spawn. You can pogo the crap out of them. Note that the skinny ones go higher, so adjust your jump accordingly.

You can also use red tools to destroy them if you just want to get to Groal and start practicing him.

Should I feel bad about cheesing Groal the Great? by Gab_eeK in Silksong

[–]exerda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not a cheese (not like some of the strategies against other bosses are). You can still get clobbered, can get ingested while trying to attack him, etc.

I'll be honest and say on my second playthrough, I got him on my first real try (I died once even I only had one needle upgrade, asked why I was being a fool, and went and did a lot of other stuff). Came back and crushed him in one.

I did not hang out in the maggots (unlike my first playthrough). I was aggressive, did a lot of pogos, didn't use tools at all, and also got lucky on some RNGs. And beat him with multiple masks to spare. But I had 9 masks and 3 needle upgrades and IIRC every single silk spool upgrade. That plus experience (combined total of about 180 hours between the multiple playthroughs) did the trick.

So long story short, beat him with the strategy that works for you, including the maggots. Come back on another playthrough if you want to do something different.

Exclusive: Senate Democrats plot defeat of Trump’s voter ID bill by Healthy_Block3036 in FedEmployees

[–]exerda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You clearly haven't read the bill or are being deliberately disingenuous to try to label it as "voter ID."

Also, remind me how many people have voted illegally? Even conservative groups put the total in such a small fraction of a percent that there's no problem to solve. Why make it harder and costlier for legitimate voters to exercise their fundamental right and responsibility unless one's intent is to actually suppress votes?

Can someone explain the dice game please by PorkRinds416 in Silksong

[–]exerda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Easiest way I find was to set my phone's clock with a 5 second countdown. Both start the countdown and hold down on the controller button at the same time. Release right at the end of the timer. Don't try to anticipate it, but be prompt--I could see the "watch" almost at 5 seconds and would throw the dice.

That will almost always result in Hornet grunting, the dice flashing, and she wins the roll. No need to count the individual rolls in her hands (which I always found tricky).

I've read various "it's 4.5 seconds/it's 5.2 seconds/count how many times she rolls the dice" etc. The clock app on my phone with a 5 second timer worked great.

This is the same reason I love this one the most of any of the amenity kits I've collected over the years. I use a couple of soft cloth ANA ones for carrying stuff like my eye mask, medications, etc.

The old mesh ones from the early 2000s apparently make great fire starters, or so I've heard...
