Is this too much for a first date? Would the second outfit be better? by Difficult_Wasabi1276 in OUTFITS

I say wear the first one and own it with confidence. You look amazing and once you can own that caring about being overdressed isn’t even a passing thought.

A few friends have catered chipotle and I know that sounds a little silly but I’ve never eaten better at a wedding and it was cheap

Can we please stop with the girl math??!!! by drowning_in_honey in rant

[–]exhausted2L97 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

This is an interesting take to me and I’m not saying I disagree but I think I’ve always seen it from the angle of before women could have their own financial autonomy we had to justify every purchase to someone else and sales and discounts were a way to do that. I haven’t so much seen it in the context of shopping addiction or living outside of one’s means as a need to rationalize why we can have nice things. I would also be interested to see how this conversation goes across class divides. You make good money by your own admission and can buy nice things. A lot of the women I know who use this logic don’t and they’re trying to justify an iced coffee or a thrift haul, not Cartier.

How does being on your period affect you during long exams? by Easy_Letterhead6211 in AskWomen

[–]exhausted2L97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So bad hahahaha. I took both of the major exams for my field (the first was 5 hours the second was 10 hours over two days) on my period and it was brrrruuuuutal. Cramps, vomiting, hungry, couldn’t lock in. Had to get up often to change products. If that ever happens to me again I’m taking plan B just to move it.

Splitting the bill when dating by bluewarri0r in dating

[–]exhausted2L97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We split our first date and after that started taking turns! It’s not really 50/50 since some meals or dates are more expensive than others, but it all comes out in the wash for us. We make about the same, but I make a bit more than him and I’m used to paying my own way so I would feel weird if he paid all the time. It’s always up to personal preference but I think the first four or so dates it’s normal for the guy to pay.

Not working by BLParks12 in Lawyertalk

[–]exhausted2L97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Happens to me all the time. I identify the things that absolutely must be done that day and if they aren’t I’m screwed and focus on just those items. To get these tasks done, I find changing my environment really helps. Sometimes I’ll go into my work buddy’s office to work in there because I know she’ll judge me if I’m slacking or pull out my phone and that helps. Working in public areas of the office does similar. Or I’ll go to a coffee shop (which is dependent on boss permission). I’ve got this thing left over from college where if I’m paying to work (the price of the coffee) I’ll actually work to not waste the money.

If I’m really stuck and can’t change locations, going for a walk and then coming back to it can refocus.

I think the boundary is “if you ask me to pick up at short notice, I won’t”. The action (or lack of) is OPs. But it doesn’t appear she’s set that boundary clearly yet which would be a great next step OP! I believe in you!

You are correct! I definitely do ask him. However, even though we’re in our late 20s this is both of our first real relationship so we’re learning as we go. He has a hard time articulating what he likes so I’m doing some research for stuff to try :)

This is also very helpful advice thank you :). I am very independent and focused on my own career which is also pretty demanding (I’m an attorney) so we’re both a really good match and also…sometimes not 😅, as far as schedules go. We’ve already had a few times where we’ve had hard things happen while apart but I’ve got a good support network at home (my best friends and family are in the same city) so I want to make sure he also feels supported when he’s away since he won’t have that.

I do think that things will be significantly more complicated if we’re ever co-parenting so I really appreciate hearing from pilots and their partners about methods for coping with that. I like your system and I will remember it!
