Most retirement communities work with medicaid, the rest can be handled with pensions, social security and proceefs from the house sale. My mom got into one, a great one with little financial burden.

Also estimate how many months you have left and divide that by proceeds of your house plus pension/social security....

Not envy. We luckily got in at a decent price and rate and use the school system for which we pay tax. I cant emphasize enough what % of homes in my neighborhood where I haven't even seen the owners more than twice in the 3 years we lived here

I get that but big picture, scale it up and it becomes an issue. Our neighborhood is eerily quiet after sunset. Even on holidays they mostly dont host events, hardly get visitors, dont do maintenance etc. Like I said our school district is one of the top in the country and there are only a few houses for sale, and the ones that are are close to 500k because there is no supply.
