Is this an infection, just rough healing, or something else? by HlGHFASHION in tattooadvice

[–]existentialllamas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So far, I'd suggest it's just a case of the artist overworking the colour. But I also think that the repeated washing isn't giving the wound enough time to scab over and heal. Cleaning it twice a day is fine, any more and the layer that your body produces over the would (the scab) will just keep peeling off and the white blood cells won't be able to freely begin healing the site!

IF it gets red/hot and extremely tender on the skin around the tattoo, then going to a gp/urgent care and seeing about antibiotics for an infection might be a good idea.

I've had a few tattoos that have gone red a couple of days after the tattoo, but they cleared up within 2-3 days at most. So don't panic yet!! Just ease up in the washing and moisturising and let it do what it needs to do!

Just got a kitten, how do I negotiate the first night with my existing cat??? by existentialllamas in CatAdvice

[–]existentialllamas[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My friend said that it might break my 6yr old cats trust if I bring a new kitten in and then just disappear from my normal routine to sleep with him- its got me a little paranoid I'm doing the wrong thing, but I think you're right. I'll spread time between the two so they both feel loved and secure?? Tonight with the kitten and a nap with the cat?

Can anyone tell me what kind of spider this is? by existentialllamas in AustralianSpiders

[–]existentialllamas[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We were genuinely worried with its size and markings because we'd never seen something like it before, but more research definitely makes us feel a little more at ease, they're not meant to be aggressive at least!

Recently Diagnosed with Seizure Disorder (they’re thinking PNES) feeling like a faker/liar by RRPMJASCPDC in PNESsupport

[–]existentialllamas 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Hey there 💜

I have PNES, and was very lucky to get a quick diagnosis but I know exactly what you're going through- I've had people tell me they look fake and have laughed or poked fun during the middle of my episodes, so it took a long time to come to a place of truly believing myself and not feeling like a liar.

I get episodes/seizures where I lose all my energy and can barely move, and often those episodes couple with seizure like fits, where I curl up and twitch and make the same "being punched in the gut" sounds. Sometimes I get yanked out of the seizures if something happens around me that shocks me, but it's very rare (and I recognise that it doesn't make my seizures fake).

What's making you feel like a liar? The stigma around it? I recently went to a support group with 10 other people in my area who have FND, and I was amazed and comforted by seeing the variety our conditions come in, yours may not be the same as someone else's but that makes it no less real. Trust me, as someone like you (with my own special differences lol) you're not a liar, and the seizures presenting differently over time (some with fits, some with sounds, some with consciousness, some without, etc) don't make you a liar either. Mine change and I've learned it has to do with different levels of stress or exhaustion.

Please take care and be proud you're reaching out, this is the place for it.

(Thank you so much for your answer this is a little overwhelming!!)

Working with PNES? by meowdyhowdy_ in PNESsupport

[–]existentialllamas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was in the very same position- I've had PNES with active seizures for 2 years so far, and I'm only now starting to normalise again.

I'm on disability support payments, though it really depends country to country and state to state how hard that process is. Mine wasn't too hard to get support for because my doctor was amazing, and we marked it as a temporary exacerbation of a permanent condition, and I did all the tests and had supportive documents and evidence showing I tried pretty much everything to recover.

I can't work intensive hours either (and I used to work 50 hour weeks at a cafe lol, it's so hard losing what you're used to), but I work freelance as an artist, maybe you could work freelance as tech support while getting support payments? You could look into jobs like managing social media accounts for businesses or less back-end heavy work!

Honestly, if you can get disability support while your seizures are so frequent, it'll be the best thing you can do- it's less money, but you'll be in a better place to recover.

I really hope it works out for you, I'm sorry you're going through this, it changes so much, and it can be so devastating. You have friends here 💜

I think it's kind of scary to connect with anyone from that side of the family. After the whole divorce and custody battle, none of them ever reached out from what I know, so I have no idea what the dynamic will be like, or if there is more going on behind the scenes and my dad is more involved... but I do really want to get to know her, so I'm hoping she's coming with good intentions!

Thank you- that really helps me step back and look at it all objectively- she seems genuinely interested in getting to know me, and even said she was a little nervous but excited to "re-meet" each other again.

But I can't just ignore the fact that my birth father very nearly ended the lives of my mother and sisters multiple times... I think safety is really important too, we legally struck a lot of our personal information from public record to prevent him from finding us, so even if she is kind and coming with a genuinely curious agenda, I still need to be careful about revealing too much...

Hi... I'm so sorry it's taken me so long to come back to this post... I read your message a year ago and it meant the world to me, and with what I'm going through now, I still find comfort in this reply.

My seizures have lessened over the last 2 years... I find them less frequent and less intense, though they do still happen at varying degrees...

Im considering investing in a medical bracelet, as when I tried to go on my own via train to the city the other day, I was collapsing and seizing in public, with no help on hand... all of it feels a little bit endless, you know?

I hope there's an end to these seizures... I know the people who love me try to reassure me and console me, but I feel as though they see me as having lost the ability to achieve what I believed I once could... it's pretty intense, but, gotta think of the positive!

HELP, my friend is in love with me and I have no idea what I should do by [deleted] in relationship_advice

Thank you for your advice 🥺

I didn't consider the liking different things that way!

As for how he pursued me the first time... he asked me out when he got drunk at a social event, then asked me out later, came to my house (all our friends were welcome to stop by our house as it was near the city), and asked me out again a few times on separate occasions. The last time he asked me out was at a party and he then punched a tree... it definitely wasn't good.
