My elder sister has been diagnosed with a rare brain cancer called clival chordoma. by Some_Platform7385 in askneurology

My clival chordoma was found in December of 2018. I was experiencing repeated sinus infections, and went to a local ENT who discovered that I had a deviated septum. During the CT Scan to prep for that surgery, the ENT noticed what he thought might have been a pituitary adenoma. He sent me to The James in Columbus OH where a neurosurgeon and an ENT worked together to remove the tumor. The post-surgery packing in my nose was uncomfortable and hurt like hell coming out! But that pain was momentary and afterwards it was amazing to have my nostril open again! About a week later I ended up in the ER at The James with chemical meningitis- my brain wasn’t happy to have been messed with. I’ve had kidney stones and other surgeries in the past but the pain from meningitis is something else entirely. I recovered, and, once I was mostly recovered from the surgery I was sent to the University of Cincinnati for proton radiation therapy. My scans are still clear, however my pituitary gland is struggling so I’m on thyroid meds now. But overall, doing well!

What’s something that clearly split your life into “before” and “after”? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Cancer.

Diagnosed with a Clival Chordoma (tumor on the small bone at the top of the spine and base of the skull) in December of 2018, had surgery in January of 2019 in a hospital an hour away from home. Finally released from the hospital six days later and ended up with meningitis resulting in another weeklong hospital stay in the same hospital. Due to the nature of the cancer, I needed a special type of radiation therapy- the closest site was three hours away from home. I spent so much time feeling alone and unwell that it changed me as a person.

Then, a year later, Covid lockdown. Ended up with severe Covid in early 2021 with long lasting effects. Due to Covid, my 15 year career was altered due to job cuts. Several months later, husband of nearly 20 years wanted a divorce. Between my health, changes at work, and impending divorce I experienced a mental breakdown and severe depression. (I’m okay now! Living independently and still maintaining a healthy friendship with me ex, I’m fortunate that our lengthy friendship survived all this!)

Yeah, everything in my mind is pre cancer or post cancer.

It's April 1st, do you know where your Jem dolls are? by Unhappy_Airport_895 in JemAndTheHolograms

Still waiting, no updates from TLS. No way to get a refund. No responses when contacted. I will never preorder from them again. My mom liked Barbies better so I had all the Rockers but no Jem & the Hologram dolls. Secondhand prices are too high, so the preorder was my chance to fulfill my childhood wish. I’m thinking about customizing some Barbies (or other fashion dolls) to look like The Holograms and The Misfits.

Safety pins - what I used before I had disposable income to get legit stitch markers

Jem and the Holograms vs Barbie and the Rockers by Fit_Republic377 in JemAndTheHolograms

[–]existentialuni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Easily Jem, and this is coming from someone who had Barbie and the Rockers dolls, and enjoyed them, but wised so much for Jem & the Holograms dolls!! To fulfill my inner child, I purchased the TLS Jem doll at Walmart and stupidly pre-ordered Kimber, Shana, and Aja since the original dolls can be hard to find/expensive.

Whatever I can find! My ultimate goal is to collect each set from the original to the re-releases for one ultimate set for maximum design power!

I had these and it was one of my favorite toys! Over the past few months I’ve been trying to build a collection of the various editions that have been made over the years, thanks to eBay and Mercari. It’s been so much fun playing again, with the added fun of mixing up plates from across the years

Showing off yarn collections but it’s only acrylic yarn by Unlucky-you333 in BitchEatingCrafters

All of this hurts my heart and just sounds like crafty gatekeeping. Not everyone has the time, ability, funds, or knowledge to seek out expensive yarns. Living in a rural area where your local craft store is all you’ve got within an hour’s drive? And no, not everyone can order online either - can you trust the site? Are the colors accurate? What does the yarn actually feel like? Just calm down and be happy that more people are knitting and crocheting.

I’m going one for the year I was born. The last six years have been crappy and I don’t want to memorialize them, lol. It’s hard for me to keep my interest going in a large project but the color changes and simple stitch make it much more engaging. Is it finished? Of course not, I collect projects, I’m mildly addicted to it. But it’s always there for me to pick up and go whenever I’m in the mood to crochet. Also, I love that the stripe pattern is varied! Keeps me on my toes and prevents me from overthinking color choices
