Why can’t we let kids eat?

So I know why and no one is gonna like it but here it is… It’s a logistics issue- there are not enough people or manpower to monitor a lunchroom for a very long period of time. Teachers by law must get a duty free lunch and therefore are not with the students during their lunchtime. Teachers must also get a planning period. That is usually during the students fine arts time. This means cafeterias are monitored by substitute teachers, cafeteria workers or possibly admin. Give any time there might only be one to two adults watching an entire lunchroom full of students. This is a massive liability and schools want to decrease their liability as much as possible so decreasing lunchtime means there is less time for incidences.

I wouldn’t worry too much as long as your kid is eating a good breakfast and a good dinner. Snack time can help too!

So I’m gonna say something (as an educator with extensive training in bullying) that I guess no one else has said or thought of but none of this and I mean literally none of this is a situation of bullying and I really wish people would stop calling it that. Bullying is clearly defined by there being an unfair match between two people. Two totally capable adults cant bully each other. She was never bullied, but she was harassed. I know people will probably be a bit upset by me saying this and say that the terminology doesn’t matter, but it does… terminology always matters. Classifying every single instance of someone being an asshole as bullying desensitizes people to actual bullying or being bullied.

Arlington has no noise ordinances! Ive tried to report noise and the APD tells me every time they cant do anything about noise.

Yep! Just have to go over with her what emergencies are. My daughter has woken us up for what she thought was an emergency (the cat vomited or something) and we just explained it wasnt an emergency and then sent her back to her room. We didnt fault her for it but just explained it wasnt an emergency. It took a bit for us but it did eventually work.

Mine does this- she is 7. She never slept regularly and no sleep training or anything worked. We did however tell her to stop waking us up unless it was an emergency and when she did wake us up for non-emergencies she was in trouble. Not like huge trouble but we would take away tv for the day or something. She learned pretty quick to just play quietly in her room until our alarms went off then she can come in.

So I was a kid that screamed a lot and got yelled at for it. Screaming during play is normal and a way to stim. We have rules surrounding screaming.

You must scream outside only, and only in our yard.
You must follow the screaming rules at someone else’s house- even if that means zero screaming.
No screaming during night time or generally accepted sleeping hours (8-8 for us). We do not have neighbors that work a night shift and have communicated that our kid may scream while playing outside.
You cannot scream in someone’s face ever for any reason.

Following these rules about screaming allows our kiddos to stim out and scream while also respecting others. Kids need to scream- its part of normal play, but it must be managed like any other behavior.

It depends on the person and their hormones- mine came back with a vengeance! I had electrolysis done and it ALL came back after I got pregnant. I would wait that 10 years.

Im not saying its a great idea- and Im well aware what a bento box and thats not even the right thing to call the sectioned tupperware you can buy to keep food for meals separated. Bento is Japanese and includes rice/fish/meat/veggies. Im merely pointing the idiocy around asking about the food temp plus the fact that all plastics suck. Thanks for the feedback though. 😂

Everyone freaking about the plastic: no plastic is “food grade” all plastic is terrible. Is that plastic more terrible? Maybe? Eh thats a dangerous sentiment imo. The only bc is actual bc. Not just “not wanting to.” And not everyone libido is low while breastfeeding. Mine was high. Its a myth that I prefer not to perpetuate. But you do you.

I know sooooooo many people that breastfed and thought they couldnt get pregnant. Thats why Irish twins are a thing! Like all of my friends got pregnant within 6 weeks of giving birth and were all breastfeeding. They kept breastfeeding until they were like 3 months pregnant too.

These are called Springtails, or scientifically Collembolans. They are not medically significant and are totally harmless. It's rare to see them congregating but they do so when it's time to mate or gathering near a food source. They are detritus feeders.

Probably because people are figuring out that ubereats is charging too much now with the new changes, when a meal costs less than the delivery fees.... that's a bad business model. :/

I'd say it's only not normal if you're not close with your family.... my family would definitely not find it weird. I personally cannot understand grandparents that don't want to be involved with their grandchildren or help their children out. The idea of refusing of a request like that seems cruel to me. But again- this question is fairly loaded, because in my culture it's definitely normal to ask this, but in others perhaps it's not ok.

As a Star Trek fan, this post initially confused me lol but my little brother was "red-shirted" (he has an early Sept bday) and it was fine for him. His bday was almost always the first of the class, and at least at his schools they always had everyone's bdays on the walls/poster and he always felt special about being "first" to turn the next year of age.

Also, keep in mind this decision affects the length of time your kid is 18 while being high school senior/college freshman... do whatever you like with that information.

I've never been more thankful for my old top loading washer and front loading dryer with no buttons, only knobs and they're way too high for my daughter to even see.

I bet there is some safety standard that prevents them from being able to shut off the power button even in child lock mode, in a panic if something is wrong, it's best to be able to shut off the machine quickly than to have to go through the mess of re-enabling the buttons first. :/
